Went here because we thought it would be fun to try the kava. It was very fun! They describe the taste perfectly, sort of like dirty potato water with the slight numbing and a slight elevating of the mood. From photos it looks like a kind of dark little bar, but it was actually open sided and sunny with a... More

I'm so glad we came here after reading all the reviews - this is a gem of a spot! Hidden away, and definitely with a local vibe - we got the Pupu Platter and it sure did not disappoint. Everything in it was amazing, the poke, the sweet potato, the squid luau - and the kalua pork was the best... More

Not everyday does one get to try kava. I've known about kava from a daughter who was invited into a Fijiian village & was served kava. This is the first place I've run into it myself. So I actually participated in the kava ceremony with a young lady guiding me through the procedure. The drink itself was not as bad... More

What a place to unwind! Enjoyed a bowl of Kava (not the taste) but VERY relaxing drink and the home cooked REAL Hawaiian food was SO delicious! Very fresh and made with love!

The taste is definitely not for everyone, but it's worth trying a couple. The Haupia and sweet potato pie was a wonderful dessert. Pulled pork was salty and tasty. Locals were relaxed and friendly. Saw several tourists come and go. It's worth sharing a bench and staying for a bit. I feel relaxed after three shells of kava.

His is a great place to sit back and relax, especially if they have live music; they also serve good food.

Small hole in the wall for the artsy local style crowd and for a taste of "fresh" kava if that's your thing. Also serve food which was quick and fresh and simple. Another spot to support locally instead of the luau down the street.

Very chill atmosphere. The kava was served out of a large bowl, into small cups made out of coconuts. The person serving the kava did not wear gloves while serving the drink and the cups looked questionable. The kava was an accepted taste and not an acquired one (Staff even told us that). It soon made your mouth and tongue... More

Kava, as defined by Google: 1. a narcotic sedative drink made in Polynesia from the crushed roots of a plant of the pepper family. 2. the Polynesian shrub from which the kava root is obtained. $5 Kava drink: it doesn't taste good, but I wanted to find out what the deal was. My lips, mouth, and tongue went a bit... More
