Awful Awful AWFUL! I'd heard much of their fish and chips, so naturally that's what I ordered. I can say that it was the worst possible meal of the entire trip! The plate and its contents appeared to have been sitting under a heat-lamp for ages and were as dry as it is possible to be. Apart from our cheery... More

They were happy to watch the super ferries coming and going, and cleaned their plates of "northwest" food, like the sampler and the coho salmon. The latter was bizarrely served with a sausage component. The size of the Manila clams for the appetizer I had to apologize for as unrepresentative of what we can locally dig (these barely looked legal!).

We stopped her for a late dinner on the spur of the moment before leaving the waterfront, and it turned out to be the best meal of the weekend! I had grilled halibut and it was excellent. Our meal took a little long to come out of the kitchen, and without me even mentioning it, the server apologized for the... More

Great halibut and chips. Much better than my horrible experience last night at Salty's! Service was decent and the wait was short.

Went here for an afternoon happy hour and were pleasantly surprised at their selections of seafood. The beer and wine were also very good. Nice atmosphere overlooking the water. Will go back for dinner next time.

Went for lunch after riding the Great Wheel. Wish I had gotten the clam chowder. Had Ivars clam cowder on the ferry to Bainbridge and it was excellent, but at the restaurant we tried the smoked salmon and corn chowder (with tomato base) and the seafood stew. Neither were neatly as good as the chowder had been. Both the others... More

I so loved Ivar's on my first visit for lunch that I came back 2 more times! It has the right combination of a large bar, awesome water views, fantastic food & a fabulous happy hour menu that begins at 3pm everyday-weekends included. The place is humongous, but is sectioned off in a way that doesn't detract from the experience... More

We made a reservation and were escorted to our table by the hostess. There were three empty tables at the windows and we asked for a window table. The hostess said she couldn't accommodate us because those tables were not set. Unbelievable. I would have left but my wife always wanted to go to Ivar's so we stayed. The server... More

After the boat tour, we had lunch at Ivar's. The clam chowder was amazing! The fried shrimp basket was yummy. The decor feels more upscale and at the same time completely family appropriate. The view out the windows is beautiful. We had great service as well.

Business party of 6; all seafood lovers! Most of us had the special with fresh halibut and half crab dish. April is Halibut season!

Ivar’s Acres of Clams has unveiled a whale of a transformation at this flagship location on Pier 54, located on Seattle’s Waterfront overlooking Elliott Bay.

Ivar’s Acres of Clams just completed a stunning remodel, the biggest in its 79-year storied history. The down-to-the-studs remodel includes expanded indoor dining space, a new massive outdoor patio, expanded state-of-the-art kitchen and a completely refreshed interior that pays homage to our iconic restaurant’s roots.

Upon entering Ivar’s Acres of Clams you will be immersed in the history and lore of Ivar’s and our flounder Ivar Haglund. Original features of the Pier, which opened in 1901, including exposed fir beams and a refurbished Galbraith-Bacon & Co sign from the original tenant (some say the Seattle Costco of its time) were restored. With a more airy feel and expansive views, diners will enjoy views of the Puget Sound, passing Washington State ferries and fireboats from historic Fire Station #3.

If you prefer al fresco dining, enjoy a stunning, new outside patio deck. Bask in the open-air breeze while taking in the sights and sounds of Elliott Bay, including the tranquil passing of ferries – and the occasional seagull friend.

To satisfy your craving for Northwest seafood, our chefs have created award-winning preparations to reflect the season’s bounty, yet still showcase Ivar Haglund’s world-famous original recipes. Choose from wild Alaska salmon, deep-water halibut, Alaska King Crab, Dungeness Crab, jumbo prawns, manila clams and weathervane scallops, just to name a few.

Be sure to check out our Pier 54 Fish Bar, which offers take-out service of Ivar's classics including award-wining fish ‘n chips, chowder and other seafood favorites. As part of the local lore, feel free to feed a few fries to the seagulls. It’s a photo opportunity worth sharing!
