We use to stop here for breakfast. The food had always been great even though the staff were a little "excentric". We are not the type of people to gold a grudge and we understand things happen. However, the hair ball I watched my wife pull out of her mouth from her chicken fried steak was too much. Makes me... More

This is one of the best down home breakfasts in Anchorage. Their portions are generous and the prices are decent. Over the 9 years I have been traveling though Anchorage I haven't left disappointed.

I went with a very large group for breakfast and they treated us very nicely! The coffee was very good. The portions are HUGE. The omlette itself is made with 5 eggs! The pancakes were very tasty. The service was fantastic! The atmosphere is very Alaska! It's a great way to start the day off!

Gwennies is on the way to/from the airport. I get eggs, pancakes and bacon or sausage. The helpings are more than I can eat. The dinner menu has never inspired me to go for that meal. But you can't beat the breakfast.

Living in alaska and off the road system i was looking forward to dinner out. Lets just say, if i wanted frozen coconut shrimp or fish sticks i could have eaten that at home instead of paying anchorage pruces for them to be cooked for me.

Gwennies has seen better days. The place could use a good dusting and vacuuming as well. Salad was straight from a bag that was a few days old. Fries were standard frozen fries and the meat was well over done. The staff which appeared to be mainly family members did not really care about much going on in the restaurant.... More

I tried the Reindeer Philly. Disappointed. It was a reindeer sausage, which taste like a hot dog with the texture of a bratwurst, not thin sliced meat like you'd expect with a Philly. I think I got the short end of the deal when I looked at what other people had on the tables. Mine was priced a bit high... More

Inside dirty, stone wall where we sat in back was crusted with grime and grease and food. Carpet was pasty black and grimy. Our server was a crusty older lady who never smiled at us or others she waited on next to us. We ordered steak and prawns, which were good, but definitely not worth the money we paid for... More

I stopped in to grab a very early dinner before my midnight flight back down to the lower 48. Boy, that a very big mistake! Service sucked, food was terrible and down right uneatible, place was filthy... Do waste your time even thinking about stopping there. Anchorage has some fine eateries, but Gwennies needs a visit from the Alaska State... More

Read reviews and thought this would be a good place to try. Nope! Where to start... Service: 1. Host was anything but friendly. Barely spoke above a mumble and didn't listen to our responses. 2. Had to ask waitress a few times for a booster seat, which she kept forgetting. 3. Never checked on through meal. 4. Told cashier about... More
