We made reservations which I would recommend. Our dinner was excellent and our server was wonderful. ( I don't remember her name she was had lived previously in Washington State). We had the black bean cakes and steak tacos as our appetizers .... Really outstanding. The wine is list is excellent and the best we saw in Springfield. All the... More

The restaurant looked very inviting (and probably more high end). We were there on business and the 3 course meal for $15 had come highly recommended. I didn't look at the rest of the menu because of that, but none of the 7 of us enjoyed our meals very much. I'm not a good cook and I could have thrown... More

In Springfield for two nights, we settled on Augie's as the menu was intriguing. We were not disappointed. Excellent lobster bisque (we are from Maine and ought to know). The salad with toasted chèvre was excellent. I had the crab cakes as my main course and they and the cucumber/tomato garnish were perfect, as was my husband's pork tenderloin. We... More

This is the best restaurant in Downtown Springfield. Augie raises his own pork & beef to use here. He also utilizes local & organic produce. The meals are creative, unique, but most of all delicious! Service is excellent. The wine list is extensive and well-priced, and the menu changes with the seasons. Everything we've had here has been awesome. You... More

Augie's is at a great downtown location on the West side of the Old State Capital. In the Summer, you can dine inside or out. The food is fabulous and the service is great. We chose from one of the daily lunch specials and were very pleased. I ordered the caprese salad with prosciutto expecting some decent tomatoes, with mozzarella... More

A real jewel within Springfield!. Great food served with a flair not seen elsewhere in Springfield. Service is fantastic! Augie and wife Sharon work tirelessly in their hands on approach to provide this classy experience. And their promotion of local fare is noteworthy also. Kudos to great staff too! What a blessing to Springfield and it's visitors.

I strongly recommend this restaurant. We travel extensively and this is excellent food. Chef Cory is a young and talented and creative. Kim runs the front of the house so the service is tight and the drinks generous and delicious. Everything tastes great but try the jerked chicken or any one of the daily specials, (the goat cheese salad with... More

On a trip through Springfield, IL, we came across a unique restaurant in the downtown area. As it happened, there was a special wine tasting menu at Augie's Front Burner on the night we ate there. The rest of the menu was limited due to the emphasis on the wine dinner. The ambiance is comfortable with colorful murals decorating the... More

This is one amazing little restaurant right across the street from the old state capitol building in downtown Springfield. I think Augie's is one of the reasons that our downtown has become so vibrant. The menu is not stagnant and never boring. The wait staff are always attentive and knowledgeable. Great food and great service is always a winning combination... More

When asked where I'd like to eat, I always choose Augie's. Lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong. They always change the menu up a bit, but you'll always find steak and seafood choices, as well as the ever-changing quesadilla.
