We ended up here after a long, scary drive in a downpour. We were hungry and flustered from dealing with the unforgiving weather. We thought that this place would be perfect...and it could have been... except... 1. The soup we had was really good, but most of the other choices were gone, so by default, we had to order from... The staff was nice and talked me through how to order. There is a large selection of soup, salads, and sandwiches. The black and white cake and the carrot cake were two thumbs up from my kids. Nice atmosphere and a calm place to eat during the sightseeing day. Great location across from the Old State Capitol.

We only went here because it was downtown and was the place Obama went when he came back to town after his presidency. Don't get me wrong, it's really good quality meats and good bread. It's just everything is priced separate. Like a turkey sandwich, you pay 5.50 plus .75 for cheese and .75 for bread. You do get a... More

The Feed Store is a great lunch stop. They are not open for dinner. They have the best soup and sandwiches in town. Barack Obama ate here the last time he was in town. They can get very busy during the lunch hour so go early. The Wisconsin cheese soup is my favorite. There chicken salad is also very good... More

Very quaint and felt liking stepping back in time. Went when they opened and plenty of room and fast service. Turkey sandwich was good but was not asked if I wanted anything on it; so, could have been better. Cream of broccoli soup and french potato was delicious. A cup is plenty! Loved the crushed ice in pop. Lots of... More

Only open from 11-3. Carry 7 soups every day, along with lots of sandwich varieties. Food delicious, great customer service, clean and popular with the locals.

Great walk to location for a restaurant near the Lincoln Museum. However the service was slow, the meal was average and I was disappointed based on prior reviews. My heartland salad was mostly lettuce, my daughters grilled cheese was served on the wrong bread and wasn't melted. When we asked them to fix it they microwaved it and it became... More

After a recent conference, I stopped for lunch with three other diners. It was very busy but the service was great and the food was excellent. Their chicken salad is wonderful, but a bit expensive if you buy it by the pound.

friend in town wanted to go here, long line and waited and waited for food never arrived went up and asked and they said it had already gone out, well I hadn't received it so reordered and waited while the long line of people waiting to pay found my plight rather amusing. Food arrived still didn't get my order right... More

I have never had a bad sandwich or soup at the feed store. Their soups are off the charts good. Hard to rate one sandwich better then the next. I am not a salad eater, but their salads look very good. While frequently crowded, service is good and reasonably fast.
