Most of us enjoyed our meals. But menu selection was not great, surprising for a seafood restaurant how little fish there was and one of our first choices was not available. One vegetarian entree doesn't make a restaurant vegetarian-friendly. Couldn't reserve a table specifically outdoors...online so we called and were assured we'd have an outdoor table. But it didn't seem to be part of our reservation -- though we were able to get one. The server dropped off our meal and disappeared. We would have liked some condiments and water glasses refilled but wasn't worth tracking the server down.More

For over twenty years the red house restaurant has been sitting right in Harvard Square, and after my visit, it should EASILY be on every date night guide list. Ambiance and cocktails are solid and entertaining. For the menu, they offer 4 kinds of lobster...rolls, but we got the Sriracha Mayo with Avocado. Flavors all perfectly present and balanced. Ceviche was chilled and perfectly balanced with citrus and a tiny bit of heat, excellent on a hot day. Tuna Carpaccio was incredibly tender, with a little sweet soy punch. I am a huge fan of swordfish, and their Pesto Basil Swordfish was perfectly cooked, a great take on a healthy/splurge, and that skin was like fish bacon. For dessert, the Classic Tiramisu was light and satisfying. For cocktails, well the Smoked Negroni that we highlighted on Instagram Reels stole the show. But the Botanicals Flight is exactly what you want for Summer Cocktails. I can't wait to see what they do for the Fall!More

Too heavy We enjoyed the coconut shrimp very much however the calamari was heavily battered with more badder than calamari. The scallops we're good but not great the seafood plate and flatbread were smothered and heavy sauce and cheese respectively overall plan on about $45...a person I just think it was expensive for the qualityMore

A big plate of Duxbury oysters as a starter is never a bad thing, and the Red House in Cambridge got it right. The fried calamari was also very good. The entrees themselves were a little small, especially considering the price one has to pay...for dinner so close to Harvard Square. However, our foursome enjoyed the Seafood pasta, Pan Seared Scallops, Pesto Basil Swordfish and seared salmon. Sadly, they were out of carrot cake, but the Pistachio & Ricotta and the 3 chocolates desserts were all heavenly. Paper straws in drinks, although I might quibble that the drinks menu was longer than the food menu. Make sure you ask to have your parking validated. The place isn't cheap, but you can at least get a few bucks off the parking. Oh yes, and just in case you weren't sure you were in the People Republic of Cambridge-the bathroom was gender neutral.More

We loved our drinks ( try the flights!) and the socially distanced outdoor seating was lovely and cozy. The one negative was the lobster ravioli entree only contained 6 small raviolis— which were delicious, but not a full entree nor worth the price. We will...return, but maybe for lunch so that the price reflects the serving sizes.More

Nice small menu with a variety of seafood including lobster rolls and various crustaceans. Imaginative cocktail menu and beer selection. Great seating options, helpful staff.

The Red House Restaurant had been recommended to me by a friend; we were relieved to find that they were open during this Covid time. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed our outdoor shaded table. First time we had had lobster rolls or lobster with...salads and enjoyed them greatly. Food was very good and presentation nice. We spent nearly $100 for 3 of us for lunch, so couldn’t do this for lunch often, but it was definitely worth it to “cap” our first visit to Cambridge. I recommend this place.More

There are many places to choose from fur dinner in Harvard Square, but we found the Red House on Winthrop to be a nice change from the large and loud alternatives. The place is very small, has a focused menu with many small plates and...entrees featuring farm to table, seafood and meats, all at pretty reasonable prices for the quality delivered. We reserved in advance and had a very good dinner there, starting with the grilled cauliflower with sriracha sauce and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and onions. We then had the homemade linguine with shrimp s cherry tomatoes as well as the rigatoni with crab and Vodka sauce. The decor in the restaurant is very warm and inviting and we sat right by the real wood fireplace, which was very cozy on a cold night. They also have terrace seating which would be nice in the spring and summer. The manager and the server were friendly and helpful and the bread provided for the table was very good as well. There are a few parking garages close by and the location is a few blocks from the T. Recommend reservations since it is a very small place. Nice intimate bar there as well.More

Our dinner at the Red House Restaurant was very enjoyable, comfortable, and friendly. The pace was well-planned and relaxing. I ordered the Lobster Risotto which was served very hot (as I like it) and was delicious. There was no shortage of lobster amid the rice....My colleague ordered the Lobster Fra Diavolo and enjoyed it as well. The salads were large and my shrimp cocktail was refreshing. Our server was very cordial and helpful as was the host. I recommend this venue for any small parties.More

Our first visit to this restaurant - we were attracted by the interesting menu and local sourcing. For our lunch, we ordered two “Small Plates” to share, assuming at $12 each that would be enough for a light lunch. The house-made ravioli and chicken croquettes...were absolutely delicious, but they were pretty petite.More
