For sure one of the best Italian places in Boston. I recommend their pizzas (best I have tasted with Flatbread) .Ingredients are fresh and good quality.

Good quality southern Italian cooking. All pasta is made in the kitchen. Generous helpings at reasonable prices. The usual fare...spaghetti, fettucine, linguini etc. Location is a little difficult to find but there is a free public parking area across the street. Decor is traditional with contemporary furniture. Not so busy at lunch on weekdays.

We were here on a snowy night so it was not too crowded. The bar was perfect as were the drinks - thank you Steve! We ordered two appetizers (a special with a very mild almost cream cheese type of cheese) and the grilled calamari. Both were very good. The service is excellent - we never felt like they were... Some new friends have been urging us to go to Gran Gusto for about 6 months, but we hadn't followed through. But last Friday was our initiation. Wonderful! We've been depriving ourselves. It's in an out-of-the-way location, and the decor is pretty basic. But the food! WOW! The five of us shared two salads to start: the Campo (shaved artichoke,... More

Getting the downside out of the way first, this is not the greatest location--a long walk (or drive through urban streets) from Harvard Square, Porter Square, Alewife, indeed just about anywhere you're likely to be in Cambridge. It also has somewhat uneven service, based on my experience and also on these other reviews--everybody is friendly and eager but not all... More

Took my family there for dinner a few weeks ago. Food was average. We shared eggplant parm appetizer which I would rate as poor. Too much bread crumb. Mushy. Just not good eggplant parm. Shared a margarita pizza as an appetizer just to try the pizza after reading all the raves about it. It was similar to pizza you would... More

We came here for a repast following a memorial service at Mt. Auburn Cemetary and sampled several different personal pizzas. The owner was welcoming and a gracious host. The atmosphere was charming. I tried the Quattro Stagioni (tomato sauce, bufola mozzarella, mushrooms, ham, black olives, artichokes) and found the combination of tastes exceptional. My daughter had the Eggplant Parmigian and... Lived in Boston for many years I can guarantee that Gran Gusto has the best pizza in town! Known for its Neapolitan cousin this restaurant is the closest to what real Italian food tastes like. The only problem is the location which is pretty far away and hard to find. Just use a GPS!
