We stopped here on our way back home from up north, but I wish we had not. The young man behind the counter was welcoming but appeared flustered . It took ages for our meals to arrive, plenty of time for me to notice the strands of spaghetti on the carpet around one of the tables. A couple came in... More

Pizza is not with it. Kids Pizza is frozen package pizza reheated. BUT the Caesar salad is to die for! Poached egg, bacon, anchovies, croutons all perfect, not to mention the dressing. Beautiful setting.

Normally I would rate anything to do with the Chateau as excellent but not this time On Saturday 12 November, the duty staff were as always, very pleasant to deal with but appeared rather disorganized. It appeared they were struggling to cope - once food was ordered there was a long wait until it arrived - this may have been... More

I must have waited over 30 minutes to get my meal. The restaurant was only half full for lunch and most people were already eating and not waiting for their meals. I don't think this was the fault of the waiter, but the kitchen staff. Maybe they went out for lunch! I had no issue with my hamburger. It had... More

We had just completed a long walk so were dying for a drink and a cake. We both had a lovely cake which was a cross between cheesecake and fudge. Very yummy. The person serving was nice, but his job kept him pretty busy. I thought he could've used a hand.

Great food and lovely service. Despite being off season we had delicious food and very friendly service. The place was cosy and comfortable.

Don't be fooled into booking a table like we did: it wasn't busy as indicated by staff. Average food at steep prices. The curry special was supposed to be beef vindaloo but wasn't a vindaloo (although tasty it was not hot at all). Nice staff though. The windows are so high you can't see out of them. It uses the... The staff at the Chateau recommend going to Pihanga Cafe, it is apart of the Chateau complex boasting a cafe style menu but the prices are quite steep for cafe eating, the decor outdated same as a the Chateau itself. The chairs were disgusting and badly in need of a clean or replace!! On the upside the staff were nice!

Food was good but rather expensive. Specials pasta was from a packet. Waiter acknowledged our request for no onion on the bruschetta however this message was not passed onto the chef as it was served with onion. To top it off the waiter had a good old bum scratch in full view of us and then continued serving.

Dinned here after looking at on-line menu but unfortunately many of the things on the menu had changed, so disappointment 1. Disappointment 2 was the price of the food. I had seafood chowder and my wife mistakenly ordered penne. Both dishes were satisfactory but $19 for a starter is expensive particularly when the ingredients were not inspiring
