The menu is extensive, so let the owners guide your choices. They are ready to include or exclude what they think your tastes can handle. Pick a meat or fish and let them do special stuff. Rice can be a dilemma and they will guide...you as to consistency or spice. Naan made to order and served piping hot. Indian beer available in regular or giant bottles. Prices are better than fair. We stop every time snow bird migration occurs. You will not have any sorrows for tjhis choice.More

This is our go to place in Macon for Indian food but today it was awful going in after a six month break. We were in at noon for the buffet and we always buy takeaway too for another day. The restaurant was empty and...the buffet looked as if they’d had a run on it as there was little left except lots of gravy from whatever was in the dishes. Tandoori had two undercooked pieces and there was no dessert except grated carrots. The whole buffet food was cold. I also needed to use the restroom and even in the past dreaded it but today it was awful and made me realize if toilets are bad, kitchen is worse! It was bad, filthy floors and soap holder filthy and no paper towel and yet staff are supposed to use a filthy bathroom to wash up before serving customers. Looking around in the dining room I also saw filthy lights and walls and I’m wondering how this place passed its food safety inspection! It needs closing down and renovating. I spoke with the nice lady who had served us about the toilets and she said she’d tell the manager. I just don’t understand why great food, albeit cold, is served in filthy surroundings and people think it’s okay! It’s not okay!More

The food is so fresh & tasty and the owners are absolutely wonderful!!! What is so special about this restaurant is the owners are always there, ready to serve you and answer any questions you might have. The owners are like family, I only go...there twice a year on my way driving to Florida & on my return trip to Chicago, and I am greeted with hugs & smiles each time I come there for a delicious meal. The food can be made to your liking, it doesn't have to be spicy or it can be, if you like, it's up to you. Whenever I step into Taj it feels like I am stepping into India. I particularly enjoy the unique decorations, along with the lively Indian videos playing on the TV. This time I enjoyed an eggplant dish after eating some nan and a couple of samosas. I am a vegetarian, vegan in fact, and this place is perfect for me, along with many meat options for those who prefer. The Taj is an absolute gem!!! Take it from me, you won't be sorry!!! Once you try Taj, you will keep coming back as your mouth will water just thinking about the delicious food!!!More

Okay, this restaurant was amazing. The owner was a very personable host and took the time to come and talk to us and even brought my sisters and I mango smoothies. The food was delicious, and they had many vegan and vegetarian options. We went...for dinner, but we did see that they offer a buffet option for lunch.More

I was seriously leery of a strip-mall restaurant, but this place is great! Family-run, great service, low-key and casual, and the food is amazing! The naan is fresh, hot, and garlicky. The curry was nicely spicy, with lovely, complex flavors. And the samosa chaat is...unbelievably tasty. I could have made an entire meal of the chaat alone. If you live near Macon, or you are traveling through, you should definitely try this place. We loved it!More

For the 2nd time this weekend, we wanted to try something different than the typical chains that line the main thoroughfares. A quick search on Google & TripAdvisor brought up Taj, rated over 4* on both sites. Like many places that really don’t catch your...eye or look the least bit appealing from the outside, Taj is located in small strip next to a Dollar Tree. We’ve learned not to judge a “restaurant” by its outer facade...and giving this a shot, we were very pleased. On this Saturday afternoon, Taj was mostly empty, but we were quickly greeted with a smile. Our server immediately brought us water, served at the table in stemmed glassware. He then asked if we’d like to take a look at what the buffet had to offer or look at a menu instead. Of course, trying something new, we were curious about the buffet. He walked over with us and took the time to explain every single dish, making note of spiciness, sweetness, etc. Many of the dishes looked very appetizing so certainly the buffet was the way to go in order to try all that was offered. They also brought a basket of warm dipping bread to the table. Starting with a base of basmati rice, we tried almost everything of the buffet. Our faves were tikka masala, goat curry, and tandoori chicken. I personally enjoyed the mint chutney and Punjabi chole, both having a good spicy kick. The veggie manchurin “meatball,” dal makni and palak paneer were also very tasty. The weekend buffet was $10. I glanced at a menu on the way out, which was quite extensive, and the pricing was mostly in the range of $11-$13 with a few things under $10. There was a list of appetizer and breads starting at $2. You can check them out on the Waitr app also.More

This restaurant is like coming home!!! I'm vegan, they have plenty of tasty options for me. But way more than that, the owners are friendly & helpful, if you've always wanted to try East Indian cuisine, but were afraid, this is the perfect place for...you. They will be happy to explain things on the menu, adjust the spiciness. This is a family owned business, they care about you as a customer, and treat you like family. A big smile & a hug await me. Try this place, you will not be sorry, Sooo delicious!!!More

We arrived for early dinner so lunch buffet was essentially over. Friendly greeting and Vinod went out of his way to bring over appetizers from buffet to sample. Authentic tasty Lamb Curry and Chicken Dehiwala served to your spice liking. The naans were excellent. Thoroughly...enjoyed our rode trip dinner. Made such a great change from fast food. Blessings Vinod from your Canadian customers on route to FloridaMore

I read reviews before I try a restaurant for the first time and after eating at Taj, I now assume that the "great" reviews were written by friends of the owner. They know how to make Nan … hot and crispy. Raita is watery and...no flavor. The two entrees we had were not very flavorful. Basmati rice had no saffron, was very dry and probably warmed over.Won't return.More

I decided to try Taj for lunch because I've never had Indian food before. When I arrived there was only one man working. There was a family of four in front of me and they were seated with a friendly greeting and water was poured...for all of them. The same man then proceeds to walk past me four or five times with no greeting or anything. I decided to walk out but then two men came in after me and seated themselves. I decided to seat myself too and waited. The host went over to the men, poured glasses of water for them and spoke to them in a friendly manner. When he got to my table, all he did was pour me a glass of water without saying a word. That was the last straw and I got up and left.More
