We went to The Blue Heron Restaurant in order celebrate my birthday, and to help out the owners, who are still rebuilding after a disastrous fire, which destroyed the restaurant and the attached motel. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was reopened in The River...Center--an entertainment venue which survived to fire. Service was great, and one of the owners was chatting with people as they came in. Service was great. Most entrees were around $20, except for the steaks, which were double that. We knew this was a special occasion place. I had a rum drink which was called Spring Water-- three varieties of rum, plus curacao. I had been looking for frog legs--a dish which I dearly love, for 6 months. Yes! Generous portions with plenty for leftovers. The had something called German Potatoes--very similar to German potato salad, but without the vinegar. They have something called pecan cobbler for desert--served warm, about half way between pecan pie and a true cobbler, just right in the amount of sweetness. Great food an a great time!More

We are there last night for our 47th anniversary dinner with family and friend! We all loved our different meals, I can say the catfish dinner was excellent. Compliments to the chef! Great and friendly service! A perfect place to dine in Van Buren!

We were in town from Texas visiting nearby family and enjoying the beautiful Current River. We’ve ate here before and it never disappoints. Great service, great selection, darn good food, you can’t beat it! I highly recommend if your just passing through or staying around...for the river a scenery.More

I enjoy eating outdoors,especially since COVID is still prevalent. Here you get a beautiful deck that overlooks the Current River. They offer a large choice of drinks and food. Staff was also very accommodating and friendly.

Steak was way way way to salty. Nachos were like something my kids would make. Grated cheese over some chips with very few pieces of meat. Are you kidding me?

My husband and a co-worker had eaten at this restaurant and wanted to come back. We were there with another couple, and were able to get right in. It was busy, but the restaurant had moved the tables around so we were not right in...someone else's area. We had Courtney as our server who did a great job handling around 5 tables with grace, humor and efficiency. We all ordered the ribeye cooked to 3 different temperatures. All the meals came out hot and presented nicely. We all enjoyed the meals we were served. The only issue I had was that there was too much salad dressing on my caesar salad, but it wasn't a big enough deal to ruin my meal. It was a bit pricey, but our steaks were very good and we couldn't finish during the dinner, so had them for lunch the next day. The diners were dressed very casually, and it was a friendly group of diners. We will definitely go there again if in the area.More

Ate dinner at Blue Herron. It was a really good meal. I had Filet and it was wonderful. The steak was as good as I have anywhere. My wife had catfish and she really liked it. Would definitely recommend.

We are staying at Rosecliff and ate dinner at the Blue Heron twice. Both times we ordered the onion tangle as an appetizer. It comes with horseradish? We asked for ranch(us) and ketchup (kids). I had grilled chicken salad the first night and the burger...the second night. I recommend both- especially the burger. It’s quite a bit as a 1/2 pound but you can do it. They put sliced olives on all their salads, even those included with dinner. The kids both had chicken fillets off the kids menus and both (teens) said they had to tap out cause they couldn't finish. My husband had the shrimp one night and ribeye the next and said they were great. We had drinks from the bar and they were great. The specialty drink menu is super fun. I had “sunblock” and it was yummy. Service was good!More

Great service, great food and great location. We were camping nearby and visited the restaurant. Had the strip steak one night and had to go back again for a second helping.

We ate here after a day of exploring the local springs. We were very tired and didn't want to make our own dinners. We all ordered different things (6 people) and we all loved our meals! I wouldnt change one thing about it. I would...definately eat at this location again. Prices weren't cheap but i don't mind paying more for an exceptional meal. Service was very good also. The setting for this restaurant was wonderful. The dining area was decorated nicely and the view of the river was nice. The service was “ok”. Out appetizers came out quickly but waiting for the sauces we requested took a while longer, causing the food to...be cooled down a lot by the time they came. The food ranged in quality. The “Caesar” salad (which was actually an escarole salad due to the use of black olives) was nice. The 12 oz steak tasted liked it had been sitting in the fridge a few weeks before being cooked, it didn’t seem fresh. Those that had ordered the chicken dishes thought they tasted fine but it all seemed like a small portion for the price. The chicken nachos-we had a hard time finding the chicken on them. The chips were very over salted and we could hardly eat them. The Mac and cheese side was bland and seemed like another dish that had been prepared days in advance and reheated to be served. The chicken Alfredo was actually very good and I highly recommend it. The mashed potatoes were obviously made from flakes and not freshly prepared which, again, didn’t seem right considering the cost. Overall the value and quality of what we were served didn’t match the prices we paid. We’d love to return but may stick to other options for the dishes we order.More

Service was really good considering the place was PACKED! Sakad was fresh and vert good! One breadstick each. Should have asked for more. 12 oz Ribeye was AWESOME!!! Every bite good and cooked to perfection. Two Sisters Chicken Breast had a good flavor, but portion...was very small. Wished we lived closer to be able to come more often!More
