I had fufu for the first time at this restaurant and now try to make it back every time we're in Albuquerque because it's the best thing ever. The version with pounded yam, peanut sauce and a side of collards is just amazing. Definitely worth the trip.

This restaurant is now on Central Ave near UNM. The food is interesting and varied. Several different African cuisines are represented. The food is fresh and hot. I hope they make it!

The injera was excellent! I ordered Beef, collard greens and beans. My wife ate vegetarian. Both plates were excellent and ample. I ordered an appetizer and it was too much food. The entrees were more than ample. Very reasonable prices and such excellent and personalized service. I one likes African fool, this is great.

I'm a huge fan of Ethiopian food. Every time I visit a city, I see if I can find an Ethiopian restaurant because I love love love injera. Talking Drums does indeed serve injera and it's very good. The traditional Ethiopian dishes offered are very limited. However, I had the combination and it was excellent (see photo). Definitely recommended.

Our waiter was great, very polite and helpful. This was our first African food experience and it was good. The combination plate 2 was good, the fried plantains were definitely the best part. We also had the fried meat patties appetizer which was delicious. The fu fu combination was pretty good, I recommend the spinach soup. Overall a good experience.

This is a great little restaurant with a varied menu. Most of the dishes are West African, with a few Caribbean dishes and the option to have injera (Ethiopian). I went with the fufu platter which gave the choice of 2 types of fufu and 3 soups. Fufu is a starch like cassava, taro, semolina, or maize that is cooked... More

Eating at Talking Drums was an adventure. West African music played quietly in the background, and pictures of Nigeria lined the walls (including one of a famous drummer, shown on the restaurant's website). We ordered the fu fu combo, which offers several choices. My favorite was the white yam fu fu, with the spinach/collard soup (more like a stew than... More

I'd never tried African food before so didn't know what to expect. The food was tasty and the service couldn't have been better. The owner and waiter were friendly and helpful. This was the first time eating a main meal with fingers and using a finger bowl. With an extra supply of napkins, this worked well. Dined twice during the... More

We enjoy trying new cuisines and this did not disappoint. Great food and outstanding service by Alex. He is charming, patient and always willing to explain each of the dishes. I went back with 4 coworkers. One had the fufu - great, another the Combination 2 (at my recommendation) and enjoyed it as much as I had. We also had... More

This is excellent food, so good I drive down from Taos almost every Friday to enjoy injera. Taos is lacking good food unless your ok with only burritos and bad service. Alex knows service and always has given exceptionally above and beyond great service. I wish their was more culture rich restaurant's like this around New Mexico. Thank you Talking... More
