The food at Al Forno was very good. However, the seating is extremely tight which lends itself to a very loud atmosphere

Al Forno has been around for a long time and I'm sure staff has changed so there have been some ups and downs. So we are always hoping that the next visit will hold up to expectations. My wife and I dined on a weeknight and split the calamari, a caesar salad and a margherita pizza. Calamari is hit or... More

We heard a lot about Al Forno and decided to give it a try on a Friday. We,a party of 3, did not have reservation because they don't take any. So, we went over there but we were told that there is 2 hour wait. And, was also told that we could have given our name by calling to be... More

Had heard for many years about AF and finally went there. The restaurant is very nicely decorated but the tables for 6 are somehow tight. Service was correct but not wow and the same applies to the food. The famous pizza at least to my taste buds was below average. Not crisp at all. The rest of the food was... More

Providence has many fine restaurants but for our money, year in and year out, Al Forno continues to be one of the best. But other folks think so too and it is usually very busy. Reservations for parties of less than 6 are not accepted (except on Valentines Day and for Brown graduation weekend (booked up a year in advance)).... More

If you like arrogance without a smile or are comfortable being talked down to by people who have no clue about service unless they know you, then this is the place to be. So I am with my husband and another couple who are pregnant. They will accommodate the pregnant women's request but not my allergies. Make sure when you... More

This restaurant is supposedly the originator of the "grilled" pizza. It is amazing, as is the rest of the menu. Can be very crowded on the weekend, so go early for a bar seat(the tables are very close together).

We having been trying to get to Al Forno for years. We know that the restaurant doesn't take reservations. We were passing through Providence at about 4:00 PM, when it first opens, and were able to get a table. This restaurant lived up to its expectations with the food. We started with one of their signature pizzas with arugula pesto... More

I'm a native Rhode Islander. And when I think I want a great meal, I think Al Forno. I'm not going to lie, it's a busy place. You're going to wait. Sometimes you get lucky and can get in. The bar is decent and has some space where you can stand. But I take a crowded restaurant as a good... More
