We came during Providence restaurant week in the end of January, it was just OK. It was four of us. Service was so-so, looks like waiters were busy, only two waiters for entire room downstairs. We got butter, but we didn’t get any bread until we specifically asked for it. Tables around us was served, but our table was ignored... More

The staff couldn't have been nicer, but the food was not bad, but horrible. It begins with the "French" bread, which doesn't resemble anything like bread. The salads, were wilted mescalun thrown on plates and then came right out the refrigerator to table. The escargot had no flavor - how do mess up garlic butter? The beef in each of... More

This place is very much a "has-been". I wonder whether the owner actually tastes the food out of the kitchen because our meal there last Friday was more like cafeteria slop. It was totally without salt. The Escargot was totally tasteless. The duck dish tasted like it had been microwaved swimming in a very sweet sauce, and the chicken liver... More

Well overall a disappointing meal. I understand things may not be at their best during a restaurant week but this was poor. Let me begin by stating that the service was efficient and apologetic for the shortcomings of the kitchen. However, the food is where a restaurant is ultimately judged. The appetizers were sorry--the lobster bisque was remarkably free of... More

This restaurant is truly a gem. It's authentic, the service is great, the atmosphere is cozy, the food is phenomenal and Bob Burke just puts the icing on the cake with his welcoming and warm personality. Go and treat yourself!

My wife and I always come to Pot au Feu for those special occasions. The food is consistently excellent and the menu has changed very little over the past 30 yrs! I especially enjoy the Beef Bouguignon served with potatoes au gratin made with gruyere cheese. They also serve a very good bouillabaisse and special French dishes like cassoulet. For... More

This gem of a restaurant in Downtown Providence, RI is simply wonderful. Authentic French cuisine, delicious food, great service and lovely French wine, and a very nice menu should be high on your "to do" list. We will be back again.

We had 60 people in a private room upstairs and the service was so good you would think it was four or six of us. Bob Burke, the owner, was a show all to himself, giving us the true story of the history of Providence and Rhode Island. The food was excellent. I doubt you could find a better place... More
