Get the beef tacos. Best in Tucson for real. Enchiladas are wonderful also. Good prices. Atmosphere isn't that great but the food and beer there can cause you to drive a long way just to eat there.

Have been going here since I was in my teens and I was usually the only gringo in the place. Needless to say, it was discovered by other grongos years ago. 4th ave has many many very good Mexican food places. Tried them all and this is my favorite. Good food and basic ambiance. Nothing fancy but remember, you are... More

My friend took my wife and I here! Reminds me of all the places I liked when I was young. Enchiladas were very good and beef taco was tasty! We did a guacamole cheese pizza appetizer that was quite good. We tried the green tamale and it was different. Some will love it.

The food here is OK, but nothing special. The outside looks shabby, and it doesn't get better inside... old and dark. Restroom is needing some renovations, as the sink is about to fall off the wall. She got our order wrong and didn't even offer to fix it when I commented that I couldn't eat it. I would not go... More

My go to restaurant for Sonora style food. Quaint but simple place. The other restaurant down the street is always busy. When I don't want to wait I go here. I would highly recommend to everyone.

We have been coming to ELTorero for as long as I can remember, in fact I recall the the entrance being the door on the north wall when it was a bar. I reminded Brad the owner of it and he looked at me saying you are old, lol. Anyway back to the restaurant, food and the staff were always... More

Great authentic Mexican food - the 2+2 for lunch can't be beat. Salsa is so wonderful I could drink it - the enchilada sauce is totally out of this world. Been going there for 15 years and still may favorite for the "real deal" Mexican food.

I have been going to El Torero since 1979, and it used to be one of Tucson's best family-friendly Mexican restaurants and one of my favorites. Sadly, after my last visit in Sept. and my visit today, today will be my last visit. The salsa was watery, with no chunks of tomato or peppers, shrimp is no longer available even... More
