In good weather, we really enjoyed sitting outside, next to the Riverwalk. It was a quiet Tuesday night, so we weren't hearing Mariachi or the sounds of the very nearby outdoor theatre. It was quiet and comfortable. An occasional falling leaf didn't ruin anyone's margarita,...More

Being from Chicago, we've been to many excellent steakhouses. We were visiting San Antonio for our anniversary and our hosts recommended this restaurant. We had a great time and the food was very good. We don't go to a steakhouse for appetizers so I can't...More

Was able to get a table just walking in, no reservations needed on a Saturday night. That was the best part of meal. Steak cooked wrong, lobster over cooked, au gratin potatoes were raw. Waitress did not care nor help to fix these issues. Creme...More

We got a reservation for 11 and had great service and the steaks and salmon were outstanding. It was cool and raining so we were seated inside but the patio looked really nice.

Did not get the river view, but that's ok. Ordered the escargot with garlic butter it came out very bland in just melted butter with no garlic or flavor at all. Ordered the fall special which was a 4 oz fillet with a 6 oz...More

Group of 4, we asked to sit on the patio along the Riverwalk. Perfect fall night for it, very comfortable. Excellent service here, we never had to wait for fresh beers or our waitress to check with us. Steaks were perfectly cooked, the sides are...More

Superb atmosphere, excellent food, special waitstaff, and location not to be exceeded. Will cost a little more than others but worth it for the experience. Eat on the terrace...sitting by the water. Excellent lobster bisque and salad; and we had two ribeyes. All food a...More

Wonderful views of the River walk in the evening, the staff were very good, and the steaks were cooked to perfection. It was by far the most expensive meal we had on the river walk, but you have to treat yourself sometimes.

This is a steak house. There is a chicken dish on the menu, but most of the menu offerings are beef. Good beef. We ordered a beef filet and a "fall special." The fall special was a 4 oz beef filet and a lobster tail....More

No everyone looked casually dressed. I saw some men in suits but I also some wearing tee shirts and jeans. I would assume that all types of dress would be fine as long as you don't go in wearing tank tops, shorts, and flip... More

The Little Rhein Steak House is housed in the Bombach House in historic La Villita. The Coahuiltecan Indians founded a settlement here in the 1500s, and in the early 18th century Spanish soldiers and Canary Islanders established a village on the site. The Mexican General Santa Anna encamped here during the battle of the Alamo. During the 19th century, German immigrants designated this area as the Little Rhein district, hence the name Little Rhein Steak House. In 1847, Otto Bombach, a carpenter, built the first two-story structure here for his family. The Bombach House was thereafter utilized as an early Texas home, a boarding house, a grocery store and bar, a private school, and a hangout for desperados. Old photos, posters, beverage trays and other San Antonio collectibles adorn the limestone walls of the Main Dining Room. Antique accents including brass lights from the Federal Courthouse and wooden benches from the Katy Train Depot help to create a comfortable rustic atmosphere
