I stopped here while looking for a place to have a solo lunch. It was Sunday brunch hours and the place was packed and people waiting but no one seemed to mind. I figured this was a good sign. After a brief wait, a seat...More

That is great to hear! I also prefer the Papa Fritz sandwich grilled, so you have good taste! Come back sometime soon!

This is a German style deli. The food is good. Service was ok. It's pretty Americanized but the German influence is there. Don't expect NY City portions.

They don't take reservations, but the group of 10 of us arrived at the 7:30 opening. The friendly and helpful waitress moved three tables together and took pictures of the group. The waitress warned us that one breakfast taco would be sufficient for most of...More

Great Ruben sandwich and split pea soup. Had some good small batch beers on tap. The place was packed and it seemed the sampler plate, Ruben sandwich and split pea soup were the most popular. The person the table next to us had a spinach...More

Really enjoyed it here. We had excellent service from our server, Richard; he provided detailed recommendations and beer pairing based on what we intended to order. All the food we had was great flavor and quality, and the sauerkraut and pretzels topped it all off!...More

We stopped in here as our first place to eat when visiting the Riverwalk. The interior could use some cleaning. The wall of our booth had splatters all over it. The hot mustard bottle tip looked as though it's never been wiped - it had...More

I had been in San Antonio for about a week and needed something other than bbq, steaks or Mexican food. We stopped at Schilo's Deli and were pleased. It smelled like a Manny's (Chicago) and we couldn't resist. My wife loved the turkey on brown...More

I read about this place in an old Frommer's travel guide. It was near my hotel so ZI walked to it. Laid back and very authentic German style deli. I had Weinerschnitzel, red cabbage, and German Potato salad. All excellent and with a tall glass...More

Great order! The sweetness and slight spice from the red cabbage is a great compliment to the heartiness of the weinerschnitzel. Thanks for stopping by!

The Riverwalk is so convenient and enjoyable that any hotel is a pleasant walk to get there. I don't remember which would be the closest, if walking is difficult for you, but if not, it's no more than a ten or fifteen minute... More
