The atmosphere is very relaxed and private .There is no rush , and is not a noisy place . The service is always impeccable, perfect served the tables, the waiters are very attentive, checking for the needs of all of us . We ask always to begin one of the amazing salads, ( mainly 1 w/ blue cheese and walnuts... More

Great experience, this place is a real gem. The escargot was tremendous followed by the veal which had many flavors and a nice portion. The atmosphere is romantic and the prestation is classy and warm. Service is top notch and very helpful, definitely a top place in SA.

The service was fantastic, the food was impeccable. I had the Quail and foie gras, which was absolutely delicious. MH had the filet, which was also perfectly prepared and delicious. The salads were really, really good, as was the dessert! The restaurant itself was clean, linen tablecloths, romantic and run extremely well. This a "find" we will return to!

We had dinner with another couple and the evening could not have been more delightful. The service was the perfect mix of attentive but not hovering. The food was outstanding. I had the iconic blue cheese and walnut salad which did not disappoint. For an entree I had the flounder with shrimp special. The flounder was cooked just right and... More

We’ve come here before for Thanksgiving dinner and they serve a great meal. Their turkey plate came with all the fixings: stuffing, cranberry sauce, green beans, sweet potatoes, and mash potatoes as well as generous servings of both white and dark turkey meat. For dessert, the rum euphoria cake is a special treat. It is sponge cake covered in chocolate... More

Frederick Costa is one of the most cordial and accommodating individuals we have ever encountered in the restaurant business. These people have unbelievably good food, bend over backward to please their customers, and provide a quiet quaint environment in which to dine or lunch. Do not miss anything on the menu. We are frequenters and often also enjoy specials. Do... More

If you are in San Antonio, and want an excellent meal where you'll find locals, not tourists, head to Frederick’s Restaurant on Broadway. It’s a bit hard to find, hidden behind a short strip shopping center near Lincoln Heights. Its subdued lighting adds to its sophisticated ambience and matches the food. Like its sister, Frederick’s Bistro, you’ll find both French... More

For celebrations, the intimate evening dinner, or family gatherings, Frederick's Restaurant on Broadway near Basse Rd. fits the bill. And it is reasonable in it's prices as well. The specials are always delicious, and they do fish dishes the way fish should be prepared. The ambiance is much like a European dining room, rather plain but chic in it's comfortableness.... More

Food was excellent but they lose a star due to poor service. Our waiter was an older gentleman that was in the weeds and didn't appear to have the attention to detail a good waiter should have. We think he may be "family." We were sat promptly, but without menus. When our waiter asked what we would like to drink... More

San Antonio is not a New York, Chicago, nor San Francisco. And thus, the fine dining does not quite (yet) rival world class. However, the dining reviews for Fredrick's elevated our expectations to be exceedingly high. The building is unassuming, in the rear of a strip center; the banner of a "Lobster Fest" hung over Fredrick's for a neighboring establishment.... More

Chef-owner Frederick Costa has never subscribed to the theory that you can have too many chefs in the kitchen so he shares the culinary spotlight with Xavier Landa Verde. Frederick was born in Vietnam and moved to France as a child. He grew up working with his parents at their highly acclaimed gourmet restaurants in both countries. He learned early on the secret recipes of his Mother and the need to care for customers from his Father. Frederick has been in San Antonio since 1984 when he helped open L'Etoile in 1985 and began his love affair with his new hometown, San Antonio. He opened Frederick's Restaurant in the year 2000 and in 2009 added a more casual version of his concept, Frederick's Bistro. After working in the family restaurants for many years, Frederick sought formal training at the Flo Brasserie in Paris. From there he came to the United States and to San Antonio. After several years with L'Etoile, Frederick sought to blend the flavors and diverse cultures of the lands he grew up in. His parents operated both French and Indochinese restaurants and the fusion of both cuisines intrigued him. The result has been a dining experience that has become legendary for area residents and visitors.
