I love Perro Salado, and I agree with all the five-star reviews below, and I love the short ribs and the avocado fries and the white bean and kale salad. However, diners should be aware of something that was new to me: two of us dined there recently, and a 20 percent gratuity had been added to the bill when... More

One of our favorite Newport restaurants. Why? Charming location and decor, but more importantly the food and interesting margaritas. Short ribs are delicious and we've never been disappointed in a nightly special. The jalapeño and blood orange margaritas are worth the trip alone. Don't miss it.

In a touristy town, loaded with bland-Yankee-sailor-preppy-boring restaurants, Perro Salado packs a punch - and the best kind of punch, possible. Whenever we are in Newport, we make sure we dine at Perro Salado. Food is always, always good. The chef is not shy with heat or the many layered flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine. All the better, when enjoyed... More

As a local I'm always looking for a great food. Perro Salado is my go to place. They never disappoint. Sticky ribs and grilled Caesar salad; both out of this world! Service in the back bar is hospitable and always a pleasant experience. Zack mixes up a great jalapeño margarita and is always pleasant and knowledgeable. It's always a positive... More

Went here with a group of 7 for a Saturday dinner. A stop for spicy 'ritas a few months earlier precipitated this most recent visit. We were not disappointed. Luckily a table was reserved earlier in the day by our least patient cohort. Upon arrival we were quickly seated in a small room with only one other table (more on... More

We were lucky to have our Innkeeper make us a reservation. Even in January, it was packed. The food is so creative and delicious. The cucumber margarita is fabulous. We sat in a small room in the back with a bar. It was crowded and seating was a bit tight, but well worth it. Service was top notch.

Perro salado is my new favorite funky little eclectic hangout in Newport. In addition to its great vibe that reminds me a bit of some of the outstanding hole-in-a-wall eateries in the Crescent City, they've got the best gumbo I've had north of N'awlins! The Berkshire Brewing Company's Drayman's Porter they had on tap to go with the gumbo was... More

Atmosphere is very fun - the restaurant is in an old converted house. Rooms are cozy. The food is always fantastic. I've visited here more than a dozen times over the past few years and have NEVER been disappointed! The margaritas are simply the best and taste so fresh!

This small Newport restaurant provides tastes and textures that are unique. We love the fall off the bone ribs, the smoky Caesar salad, the spicy shrimp fajitas and tacos, and the blood orange margaritas and house sangria. The portions are generous and the prices are low. This is a favorite local spot so expect to wait for a table if... More

Perro Salado has a nice atmosphere and friendly service, but the food was not good. The salsa was extremely bland (like a cheap salsa from a jar) and the carnitas were hard to eat. The fish tacos seem to be the best bet, but we will not return.
