It is just local food. Portions seem to vary depending on who serves you. Sometimes the service is quick, sometimes not. It is rather retro and a comfort food from the 1950s type place.

We kept going there for breakfast because it was off the tourist track. No rush. Just some good local food and atmosphere. I have become a spam fan :) This is a no frills place. Just good food. For a take away I recommend the Zip Pack for under $10.

I want Zippy's to be great. My memories from years ago of Zip Min, chili rice, Zip packs is a little better than today's reality. Their menu has expanded greatly. This restaurant is one of their larger, with lots of indoor seating and parking in a busy neighborhood. We got great, fast service. Many good things to say about the... More

Every time I'm in Honolulu, I always have at least one meal at Zippy's. It's not a gourmet restaurant with fancy food, but it's real LOCAL food, simple go-to comfort meals that kama'aina and frequent visitors enjoy. And the prices are reasonable, too (bang for your buck!). You can see all the Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese influence on Hawaiian food come... More

Sadly, Zippy's - one of my favorite places to go has gone downhill. Mainly because their specials are usually not so good. They need to revisit their specials and have some real taste testing done - because they need to go back to more of a home-cooked style that I loved. It's not there anymore and the recipes are lacking... More

We love this particular Zippy's with its excellent service and friendly staff. They make you feel at home and treat you like family. Its a great place to sit and enjoy your coffee and newspaper without any pressure from the service staff. I always order the excellent Korean Chicken Salad or plate lunch depending on my appetite, then take home... More

Zippy's is the local restaurant chain that is loved by the locals. I have only had their food a few times - a couple times catered - greasy and cold - and would not eat here by choice. Their Napoleon bakery is better

I have eaten in many Zippy's as a resident and returning kamaaina. While most of the restaurants provide a fair/good value, the one on Vineyard Blvd was disappointing. While the Breakfast Bento #2 was OK with rice, Spam, hard fried egg and Portuguese sausage, the mini-breakfast was truly mini and not a good value.

This is my favorite diner in Hawaii. The food is consistent. The portions are hearty and the service is good. The menu also includes some Hawaiian comfort food and international favorites.
