The combination of good food and good art is hard to beat--and the Grand Cafe has it. The service is amateurish, but the setting is very fine. We found the Cafe's salads and soups to be good, and the portions more than adequate. There is...More

One of the best breakfast places in Honolulu - fresh, largely local and organic menu choices, light and airy setting, friendly service and venued in the historic renovated Hawai'i State Art Museum

I was a very loyal Grand Cafe customer when they used to be in Chinatown. It took me a while to visit their new HISAM location but finally went there with a friend for weekday lunch a few weeks ago. It was good to see...More

Atrocious service!!! Made us wait for them to complete their seven minute long telephone conversation, then informed us that it was too late to be served a meal (even though it was well within their advertised serving time.) They then offered their very limited bakery...More

Sorry, nice place to have a cafe...but that is where my review ends with its positives...had the turkey salad and basically was dried tiny shreds of turkey (barely there and almost non-existent) with a huge mound of iceberg lettuce chopped, and missing the cilantro which...More

Nice airy cafe where they served really yummy egg Benedicts. The place was originally founded by the grandfather of the owners in the 1920's. How cool! The hollandaise sauce on the benedicts is light, not heavy like some of the others we've had. My husband...More

My wife and I made reservations for 10:30 on a Sunday morning. There were seats available when we were arrived but they had taken the time to designate one reserved for us with a little sign on it. I thought this was a nice touch....More

Nice little cafe in Chinatown. Good breakfast, if a little expensive. I've had the Bananas Foster French Toast, which is out of this world, although very sweet and a large portion. I've also had the eggs benedict - also very good. What I don't like...More

Grand Cafe & Bakery was founded in 1923 by Mr. Ti Chong Ho, grandfather of one of the owners and partner Mr. Pang. During this period the Territory of Hawaii & particularly downtown Honolulu were bustling with activity. These Chinese entrepreneurs were part of the scene. American food was served and confectioneries offered. Grand Cafe & Bakery was been re-established in 2005. Our foods and recipes reflect a Honolulu of the early 1920's with a contemporary flavor. Executive Chef and owner, Anthony Kui Sin Vierra, great grandson of founder Mr.Ho is a graduate of California Culinary Academy. Chef Anthony brings his skills, talent, creativity to this family cafe. Comfort foods & old time island favorites made with the freshest ingredients will continue to be the focus. Awards: Critics Choice for Best Breakfast; Finalist for Best Bistro - New American Cuisine & our lemon cake was awarded best dessert. Tasty food & warm surroundings welcome you to this special spot in Chinatown!
