Comfortable spot with a back room set up for traditional Japanese dinner on cushions without shoes. I had green salad with tasty sesame dressing followed by grilled miso butterfish - which had a few bone splinters. My wife had tasty udon - but nothing special.
Made reservations, then spent 30 minutes asking people in Ala Moana Center where this place was and no one had heard about it. It is diamond head of Longs Drug Store. Expensive, understaffed, but friendly servers, who charge for a bowl of rice, but actually...More
We enjoyed our dinner here so much that when we came out I felt really disoriented and thought we were in downtown Kyoto and not Honolulu! The ambience and service is classic upmarket Japanese - peaceful and calm, great for conversations, no frazzled waiters rushing...More
I specially go for lunch now to eat the Shokado Bento (check their menu for price). It comes with a good variety of Japanese food in one open lunch box. They also have a very small glass of draft beer just right for a little...More
Stopped in for lunch during a visit to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. The deep friend oysters were good. Service was ok and the restaurant appeared to be very popular and busy. Authentic Japanese cuisine.
Quiet and in crowded even though it sits at the base of the biggest mall in Oahu - the food was excellent, tempura shrimp perfect and the butter fish smooth and tasty. Excellent salad that was made for the 3 of us, also had mocha...More
It used to be just Rokkaku but name and management changed to Rokkaku Hamakatsu. Food is still great, service is generally good. The location at Ala Moana Shopping Center is very convenient for a nice lunch while out for a day of shopping. We will...More
It is an authentic Japanese restaurant in Waikiki area. I am presently surprised to find this place in Ala Moana Shopping Center. Do not bother to go any Japanese restaurants in Royal Hawaiian Center. I have tried a few, but none of them are good...More
The restaurant is quenched between the outside wall of the mall and the park house. You literally need to leave the mall and walk along the parking lots to eventually find the restaurant. Be warned: real good Japanese kitchen comes with a remarkable price tag....More
