What a delectable treat on our way from Anchorage to Valdez. Tonsina River Lodge is located about 60 miles north of Valdez along the Richardson highway. The owners are Russian and they make and serve the most delicious, authentic homemade Russian food. There are several Russian as well as American food entrees on their menu and Russian appetizers to get... More

What a surprising and unusual experience. When we entered the restaurant we weren't sure it was open.... A man who spoke Russian nodded for us to wait a second, and then a nice woman arrived and seated us in the clean, quaint table area. We were the only ones in the whole place and we played pool while waiting. We... More

This place has rooms and laundry and also a bar and restaurant. Ample parking for Rv and such. Food was great! Russian menu with American items too. Borscht was great and so was the fried chicken.

Absolutely delicious, authentic Russian food. Casual, bar/restaurant ambience with TV going behind our table, and few patrons. So we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food. We'll certainly be back next time we're in Alaska.

Our party stopped to eat here because we had a member who had spent two years living in Russia and hoped he'd be able to reminisce about his time there. He was thrilled to be able to speak Russian with the proprietors---several native speakers came out of the kitchen to converse with him during our time there. The food was... More

We stopped here for lunch on our way from Valdez. What an interesting and nice place. It is an old lodge and restaurant and the people are Russian and they serve Russian and American good. They were very helpful and friendly. We had a Russian mushroom appetizer and a large salad. The salad was fresh from their garden and the... More

We were travelling back to Alaska from Valdez and decided to pull our RV's into Tonsina River Lodge for a night. The staff was very friendly and encouraged us to try their Russian food. Although we rarely eat out, we were enticed by the opportunity to try authentic Russian cuisine and are very glad we did. Everyone really enjoyed their... More

If you are EVER in the area, you must stop here to eat! Don't bother eating in the same boring restaurants in Glenallen, eat here! I had the Machanka and we shared the Napoleon Cake for desert. The Machanka was incredibly filling and was delicious. A very big serving too. The Napoleon Cake was incredible and reminded me of baklava... More

We visited this restaurant for dinner. The restaurant has a nice and pleasant ambience. The portions were not that big but the food we had for dinner was good.

A great old piece of history in Copper Center,Ak. We walked through the old hand sewn lodge, and onto their quaint back deck. Tables with umbrellas, fresh flowers, and plants. A fountain flowing peacefully in the back corner. While it took a bit to get served. The meal was excellent. Home made buns, and hand pressed burgers. A Reuben that... More
