We were recommended this because there were toys and children's books to borrow while lunching. Very agreeable venue, close to playpark and parents could enjoy gazing across at lake and mountains too. Lovely salads and well barista-ed coffee (and fluffy's).

We had just spent a whole day at the Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow and we needed to sit down and have a drink and a snack. Being Good Friday, restaurants and cafes do not serve alcohol unless you eat a meal. It is very strict. We had heard of Relishes in the past, so we asked if we could... More

We read reviews and decided to try this restaurant for dinner. Also for excellent coffee, early the following morning. We did not have a reservation; but were seated (as we were dining early). Unsure if not having a reservation started us off on quirky vibe with staff, or if they are just a bit quirky? The courses were served speedily... More

We had heard such good things about this cafe that we went out of our way to go there. We were ignored by everyone on the staff and despite calling three times at a time when they were not busy, just standing chatting at the bar together they did not come. When we finally got served our hot chocolates were... More

Went for a light dinner without a booking and got a table plus good service. The staff were knowledgable about food and drink. We ordered soup with a view to having dessert but the garlic and cheese loaf was so filling dessert got missed. The Wanaka Red beer was excellent and had to have another to be sure - which... More

Food was good -- especially as the chef listened to how we wanted our duck cooked medium well and did it perfectly. It's a bit noisy, though.

Stopped here for a quick breakfast whilst in Wanaka. The food was delicious (I recommend the Relishes cooked breakfast) and the staff were really friendly. Would have gone back again if we'd have been staying in Wanaka longer.

One of the best restaurants on the South Island... Fantastic in every way: fabulously creative dishes, a special menu every day and super friendly staff - a mere delight! Coffee's good, too...

Description
With our lakefront setting, spectacular views of the majestic Southern Alps, contemporary and innovative cuisine, and fresh daily baked goods, Relishes Cafe has become something of a Wanaka institution. We are open from 7am till late offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Enjoy a glass of wine from our extensive list of local and New Zealand wines or a cup of locally roasted fair trade organic Venus coffee in a casual atmosphere. In summer, the double French doors are opened wide to fully enjoy the stunning lake view, and in winter, a roaring fire displaces the chill after a day playing on the mountains. As a family run business, we welcome even the littlest members of your family by providing a children's menu, a well loved toy box, and a highchair. We happily cater to special dietary needs and also to special events when our in house baker creates delicious cakes to celebrate your occasion! With an abundance of local produce, meats, eggs, and wine grown in the Otago region on our doorstep, there is no need to go further afield for ingredients that will create flavours to delight the palate. Dishes highlight seasonal produce, locally found herbs like horopito, free range eggs, and meats that come from the region, some coming from just down the road. Drawn by the allures of Wanaka after many holiday visits, brother and sister Toby and Tash, along with Tash's husband Paul, bought Relishes Cafe. Showcasing their passion for food, wine, and travel, the trio are frequently seen both in the kitchen and on the house floor. Head Chef Silvia has traveled the world and has an extensive culinary background including experience in Europe. She draws on her international experience to whip up culinary fusions with a Kiwi touch. Serving up twice daily blackboard specials, she and her team continuously bring something new to the table.
