Martina Franca is a beautiful hill town in the Puglia district of Italy. Trattoria La Tana serves up delicious food in quite generous portions, especially the pasta dishes.

We chose this restaurant because of the high ratings, and because it was just besides the Palazzo Ducale. The staff was not particularly welcoming, not unfriendly or even rude, just not very welcoming. We were also not impressed by the food. Again, it was not bad or even poor, just not impressive for the price one had to pay. We... More

We ate here on a Monday at lunch when many places in town are closed. Orriecette with cime di rape was very good. The pasta was actually a larger version made with grano arso. It was served with a plate of cool crisp raw vegetables, so fresh and tasty. We followed up with big plate of fruit then coffee. €50... More

Today my wife and I traveled to the City Hall in Martina Franca to try to find some family birth records. After we were done, it was lunch time. My wife asked a local policeman if he could recommend a good restaurant nearby. He gracious walked us around the corner from the Piazza Roma to the Trattoria La Tana. Situated... More

The antipasti assortment for 2 was really one of the best we've ever had in Italy. All fresh local ingredients meticuously prepared and served. Mouthwateringly delicious main courses all down the line. The waiters were truly professional (something that unfortunately can't be taken for granted in Puglia). Didn't have time to taste the desserts as it was way past our... More

We ate here on a Sunday night in May and had the place to ourselves. Because it was a Michelin restaurant and had good TA reviews we expected better. Seafood pasta was fine but the slow cooked lamb had a lot of bones and gristle. Most annoying was a speaker in the room that was playing a local radio station.... More

Our visit was a while back. 2013 perhaps. The Panna Cotta Amarena has yet to be beaten in 3 years and some globe trotting. Simply fantastic all round.

We stopped here for lunch after a wine tour. Our guides highly recommended it as a place where you can eat fresh, local fare. What an amazing meal! Our guides recommended we only order antipasti…there were about 12 different types of specialties brought out, all in very abundant quantities. Everything was outrageously good and we had an unforgettable meal!

This restaurant is behind the Comune (town hall) in Martina Franca. It has a very nice ambience and the staff are very friendly. Although more expensive than other restaurants in MF, it is well worth the extra cost. The food is very good quality and it has local dishes - both meat and fish (and vegetarian!). The antipasti are excellent... More
