We stopped for a quick breakfast at 7:30 am. Not many places open before 8. We had eggs with chorizo and ham. very inexpensive and very good. If you want good food and want to save money, this is the place. The only negative is that they didn't have brewed coffee. We had fresh squeezed orange juice and it was... More

Authentic Mexican food - empanadas, salbutes, caldos, sopes, etc, they have it all. This place was so good (and cheap) that we came back twice. The staff are super friendly and help guide you through if, like us, you have no idea what anything is, and within minutes the food is on your plate; within seconds it is eaten.

I would strongly recommend the Sirenita. Their menu is simple and totally Mexican but everything is genuinely homemade in the open kitchen/dining area and the service is great. They will accommodate tweaks to their menu to suit but most of all the food is just great. Try the 'Caldo especiale' and the Panuchos but everything we had, and we tried... More

This place may look and feel a little less sophisticated than other restaurants in town, but if you're after the real deal, this is your place. Forget the gringo restaurants and eat here for the cheapest, most awesome Mexican. We had two soups, two tacos and two empanadas for $120 pesos. That's less than AUD$10 for dinner for two -... More

Non-pretentious, cheap, fresh and tasty, this little restaurant deserves more recognition. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, service is pleasant and speedy and the food is excellent. Try the chicken soup or the tacos

I wish I had found this place on my first day on Holbox and not my last! I tried the tacos, salbutes, sopes, panuchos, all were amazing! A friendly place to enjoy great local cuisine with generous portions and low prices, this was my favorite place in Holbox. Frequented by and run by locals I can't recommend this place enough!

Best dinner we had on the island, cooked in less than 10 minutes, served piping hot with an amazing (tear-jerking) habanero salsa, excellent drinks. Better than anything in the square, but still super close!

We had a very good chicken soup here, and the delicious sopes had fresh and interesting toppings. The owners and locals were very friendly and made us feel at home. A little tricky to find. Good directions given by Gordon in a review here. The "Local List" is very helpful in advance of a Holbox trip.

We got Chicken Soup and tacos. Got a plate of different tacos (they have not menu) and ordered extra of what we liked. 120 pesos for food and drinks for two people. They don't have alcoholic drinks.

Thank heavens for the Holbox Local List (found on TripAdvisor's Holbox Forum). Without it, we never would have found Sirenita, or had the courage to try it. It is located on the east side Calle Esmedregal, just north the intersection of Calle Jeronimo Aguilar (I marked it on OpenStreetMap). If you don’t have a map, go to the SW corner... More
