After reading reviews had to pass by on my way to Cape town from Simon's Town. The fish was well worth the morning traffic we were stuck in. Best I have tasted ever. Wish I could replicate at home since I live in Joburg.

No fuss, no frills, clean, and friendly permanent staff make this take away a must. Consistently good hake and chips to go is one of the best options for taking to the beach or to a mountain top near-by. Locals and visitors alike queue up for the fresh fish. Expect a bit of a wait on busy Friday nights. It's... More

The fresh fish choice to buy and takeaway for home cooking is always very limited, however, what they have is always super fresh and excellent value. Yesterday bought a kilo of deboned hake fillets; nothing fresher and nicer. Had some grilled last night for supper and cannot be beaten. They also had yellowtail and angel fish as an alternative. The... More

Last year when I was a tour guide one of my tourists told me this is the "Best Place in the World to buy fish. Often holiday makers heading home would insist on buying fish here to take with them to eat at the airport before boarding the plane. Tourists heading to holiday homes wanting a taste of the Cape... This fish coukd not be fresher cookdd to perfection and melted like butter in your mouth. No place to sit down in the shop so grab your fish and chips and go sit on the promenade over looking the sea. Simple food nothing better

On Saturday 31 December 2016 my son said "I feel like fish and chips". Come we drive to Fish Hoek (from Retreat) and see if that Fish Shop is open. They were indeed open and quite busy. I bought a hake and chips parcel for him and his son and a piece of hake only for me. We then drove... More

We patronise FHF every week when in FishHoek. Their fish is amongst the best we have ever eaten ,even in the UK If possible avoid Fridays as the queuing is rather lengthy, but it is still worth the wait Our favourite is Hake , middle cut.! Try it.

This is a typical fish and chip shop. There is no sit down facilities. You buy your fish and take it away. It comes wrapped traditionally in news print. Inks being toxic, it is clean unused paper. You order in a line at the till and the orders are filled as practical and called by number as per your till... More

You can't go wrong with a portion of hake and calamari here. Fresh and tasty. A take away to cheer the heart.
