Our second dining visit to La Pieve. This time reinforced our previous good impressions. It is a truly enchanted place hidden amongst the Brunello vines of the nearby Argiano and Banfi estates. Dinner is outside on the terrace looking over the vineyard and it is a culinary experience not to be missed. Food is first rate and wine is well... More

To find this place needs either one knowing exactly what it is and where it is, or one exploring type, hungry enough and crazy enough to keep on driving when the road gets smaller and smaller, the asphalt disappears... To be honest, there are some 40 by 40 cm signs on the side of the road, quite inconspicuous, every 5... More

We were a party of 9 for the last dinner of our holiday at a nearby villa. We have stayed in the Montalcino area more than 5 times and our big mistake is not going here before! The views west before dinner were quite wonderful. They had set a lovely round table and we enjoyed great primi piatti and then... More

The Italian word 'Pieve' signifies a small rustic chapel and accompanying buildings. La Pieve at Poggio alle Mure near Montalcino in Southern Tuscany fits this description to a T. Tucked away alongside an unpaved road that runs through the vineyards of the Montalcinese Brunello, the settlement has a serene and sequestered air. The very stones that form the courtyard reek... Had a fantastic lunch at La Pieve with the family. Menu varied enough to keep everyone happy and the quality of the food excellent. Staff extremely welcoming and a good wine list to pair with the delicious food.

Prepare yourself for a great meal! They advertise a buffet on their web site but in 6+ years coming here we have never seen it and always ordered a la carte from the menu. The service is top notch as is the food. They have a wonderful covered outdoor area when the weather is not too hot. It is a... More

I have enjoyed several meals at this wonderful restaurant in the Tuscan countryside during the last few years that I visited Tuscany. The food for both lunch and dinner is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It is also a nice place to have a glass of wine sitting at a table outside the enoteca in the... More

We love the location, its atmosphere, the food, the wine and the service - all very memorable. La Pieve is somewhat difficult to get to, but the place is worth it!

This place is well worth a visit- somewhere that I want to keep secret but need to shout to the world as it is more than deserved. We ate here a couple of nights ago after stumbling across it by chance and loved it so much went back tonight for our last evening in Tuscany. If you are looking for... More

We arrived around 9pm and were surprised to find not one table occupied and were duly concerned. Fortunately, we were quickly proved wrong and a beautiful meal was had. We ordered a magnum of Cerbaiona 2006 which was a dream in itself, and between us had mixed antipasto as starters, and as mains, a classic Florentine steak, a chick pea... More

The gourmet buffet presented at La Pieve, has quickly become known for its innovation, drawing those who like to broaden their gastronomic horizons beyond the local, traditional Tuscan fare. The cuisine of the La Pieve changes daily and incorporates a variety of high quality seasonal fresh ingredients and influences from all over Italy. A more traditional Tuscan menu is also available for ordering a la carte. Guests may experience a tradition of Italian cuisine, sometimes reproduced faithfully or sometimes revisited with imagination. The entire space or a part of the restaurant can be reserved for lunches, cocktail hours, dinners, private parties and weddings. For each of these occasions, the staff works together with clients to determine a perfectly customized menu. The interior space of the restaurant can accommodate up to 90 seated guests. The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner daily except on Mondays. Cooking classes can be arranged upon request.
