We knew it wouldn't be cheap, but wanted to try it anyway It was raining, so a tea room seemed a good place to take cover. The food was very nice. I tried a 'flavoured' tea, rather than my normal 'PG', and it was OK. We enjoyed the visit, but I doubt I would return, given the cost, compared to... More

The service although friendly was very slow, we waited for nearly half an hour for our food and were about to leave when it arrived they did admit the service had been slow and did in fact offer us money off the bill. which was a nice gesture. Having said that the food was fine but I think expensive.

Afternoon tea was OK, but I felt as though we were too cramped in on small tables. Selection was fair, but the price over the top given the cramped surroundings. I have had much better experiences at other venues and would not rush to return to this tea room.

Went to Black Swan for couple of drinks, we saw some Sunday Lunches and decided to stay and try some ourselves, beef was sold out so we both opted for pork which was lovely. Nice pub, with friendly staff, comfortable and popular would look into staying there in the future as it looks so nice.

We visited The Black Swan Tearooms towards the end of the day after a long walk. A most charming little place, with quite an extensive menu. We both had a hot drink and a cake. The only reason in which I'm not giving them 5 stars is just purely down to price. £15 for 2 hot drink and a piece... More

What a super evening! The whole ambience was delightful. We had the seven course taster menu and chose to have the accompanying wines. Both food and wine was first class. The staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. We were made to feel very special even though the restaurant was busy. We had a wonderful, relaxed evening which we completed with coffee... More

Second time visiting the Black Swan Tearoom and it lived up to the memory of our first. Really good champagne afternoon tea, with the hotel accommodating our collective food foibles! The sandwiches were tasty, the cakes plentiful and the scones delicious. Will definitely be coming back for a third visit.

After walking around Helmsley on a cold Sunday afternoon, my mother and I decided to stop in this tearoom for tea and cake. We were quickly shown to a table, which started off promising. At least two other couples were shown to tables, had their order taken and drinks brought to them before we had been acknowledged at the table.... More
