We were delayed in traffic on the way to Monteverde and I called an audible (American football term) and asked the driver to stop here for a lunch. It was one of the best decisions I made the entire weeklong trip. The food was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. It is open-air and there is a great view of the Gulf of Nicoya. It was so good that we decided to stop on the way back from Monteverde as well. Though the menu is completely in Spanish, the waiters are very helpful and will help you find what you're looking for. Note: we went to the second location just north of Route 1 (search Restaurante Pajaritos 2 on Google).

We ate at Marisqueria Pajaritos #2 on the recommendation of our AirB&B host. We LOVED the food and the service so much that we ate 5 dinners there during our 13 day stay. The Shrimp in Garlic was the best seafood dish I’ve had ever. Every dish we ordered was delicious— not only the seafood. Just can’t praise this remarkable place enough!!!

Fantastic shrimp at very reasonable prices. A bit difficult to find as it is 1 block off the main hwy, but worth finding. My friends and I have lunch here every time we are in Puntarenas. I'd recommend to any cruise passengers, the fried shrimp are better than I've ever had on a cruise ship.

Local friends took us, best seafood and value ever had in CR. Big portions, very fresh, clean and super friendly. GO!

The bar mar restaurant on the second floor is excellent, the seasoning is delicious. I ate fried chicken today and it wasn't even heavy, very good flavor, and some finger-licking buttery vegetables. The attention of the girls and the excellent man feel like a family, highly recommended
