We don't understand the overall rating of this restaurant. The food is good but the welcome is cold and the hygiene very limited. It's really a shame to be so badly received without knowing why. In this restaurant we are very far from the land...of smiles and hospitality. We will never go there again.More

We ate here a few times- they do nice sandwiches with home cooked chips and scrambled eggs with toast which has had more than a fleeting acquaintance with a grill (a rarity in SE Asia). The Thai food is also very good. However I would...say avoid if busy- it’s a family business (I think mum and son) and they do struggle if they get a lot of customers at the same time. One night when we were there we sat down and realised no one had food, everyone had finished a round of drinks and people were getting antsy. I spoke to the old lady and said they were clearly very busy and we’d come back another day. She said ‘food coming’ but we waited another 25 mins. I guess it’s the Thai mindset not to admit defeat, lose face etc but when running a business you sometimes have to let common sense prevail and accept you can’t deliver the right level of service and let the customer go. If it’s quiet or everyone has eaten though I can highly recommend Banana bar.More

Charming and familiar atmosphere. The great and very entertaining Bell and her husband prepare excellent Thai dishes, very well adapted to European tastes. We come regularly now :-)

I had tasty Red Curry Chicken with rice. There is relaxed atmosphere and not many tables. Service was fast and friendly.

Best food on the island with the most wonderful couple who run the restaurant. We came back twice which we never usually do. Can’t miss it.

Banana Bar is a must do on Ko Samet. Going there is an utterly charming experience. You don’t have to scroll far through the reviews of it to see others rave about the food or the lovely couple who run the restaurant and the consensus...is wholly correct. Having gone to some fine establishments in Bangkok and Siem Reap in Cambodia, we were left a little hollow as we had not had what we felt was truly exceptional authentic food. That finally changed when we ate at Banana Bar. Whether you are a backpacker making your way through south east Asia, someone holidaying for the weekend from Bangkok, or (and especially) if you are staying at a nice resort on the island (which we were), coming here in my eyes is a must-do. In our four days on Ko Samet, we came twice (and would’ve come more except for an effort to try other places).More

We saw the reviews, we tried the place… we came back once a day during our trip ! The food is delicious, the owner are adorables, the place is simple in the good way, you feel at home. + there is a super lovely cat.

The best Thai food, full of flavor and aroma. Just 100% Thailand. Don't let the appearance of the place fool you. You won't eat better on Ko Samet. Fantastic flavors.

Read the reviews and was looking forward to eating here . Been coming to Thailand for 15 years and My wife is Thai also and we were very disappointed with bland uninspiring taste of both our average meals .
