In the main street, a wintry January night. A cordial lady in charge and a fine prompt waiter who did the cooking. It was dinner time, nine-isn, not more than two tables being served but there were locals using it as a cafeteria and working cum elderly frequenters. The pitta saffron was excellent gossamer light, we had several. Grilled calamari... More

With little tables on the very quiet Main Street of town, the taverna serves well spiced, tasty Cretan food at good prices. Eggplant dishes (both vegetarian and meat) were really good. Tzatsiki nice and garlicky. Big portions.

Spending a day in Paleochora and wanting something light and simple to eat. We chose this place because it had briam on the menu which is great usually if you dont want to eat meat or fish. Indifferent service, very stale bread, warm jug of water, the briam had hardly and vegetables in it just a very oily tomato sauce,... More

Good food. I would recommend it. However you have to be patient if there is a busy hour because it might be a little delay. Very tasty meet balls!

If you are now siting in this tavern stand up and go to next restaurant for example MasaSoura. In this tavern we ordered a 3 dishes and 2 of them they don't have it. After waiting for diner they bridged me a bad dish (I ordered a mousaka and they bridged me a stuffed vegetables or something like that. But... More

Located in middle of town this restaurant always appeared busy. Whilst not touting for business it was one of the few places where a waiter stood in street and said good evening to you. We decided to give it a try, food reasonable, service okay but a bit impersonal, reasonably priced but not a place I would rush back to... More

I learned a lesson yesterday evening when I dined at Inochoos. Never choose a restaurant because lots of people are in the restaurant. Inochoos is located in the heart of Paleochora and receives a lot of passing trade as tourists walk by. However there were very few if any locals there. As it was Easter Snday I ordered roasted lamb... More

Ate dinner her twice while in Paleochora and loved the flavours of the traditional dishes I had. Portions were a good size and they were happy to give you a plate with 2 different dishes so that you could try both aubergine and pepper based flavours. On our second visit we were given some wine by the restaurant staff which... More

We were spending a very wet day in Palaeochora, looking for somewhere a bit different for lunch. Absolutely delighted with the food here. Hubby had a plate of sardines and I had shrimps in garlic. Whilst they took a little while to arrive, when they did, they were piping hot and clearly very fresh. Washed down with a Diet Coke... More
