We did not visit the monastery to dine, but surprisingly we found they offered food.We had a light lunch, enjoying fresh ingredients on our salads. For dessert we tried the pecorino sheep’s cheese, learned why Italians rave about it. Located inside the 14th century tower, the small restaurant is a most scenic place to dine. Two Italian thumbs up for... More

What a stunning place. We have been back to this lovely place again and again. Some of the best views in the whole world never mind about Italy. This time we had coffee and cake and the coffee was superb and there were a whole range of lovely cakes and home made fruit tarts, superb. there is a wide range... More

Visiting the Monte Oliveto Maggiore Abbey, we stopped with a group of friends for dinner in this restaurant located in such historical and artistic place of Tuscany. Excellent quality of food and wine, service and cleaness provided very carefully.

We dined on salami, salad, open label wine and cake. The cakes were lovely, especially as they kindly provided a mixture of them all, the chocolate similar to sacher, was excellent. Staff were very helpful and efficient. Nice setting after visiting the monastery. Simon Hanley +447828417512

By the end of the visit of the abbey, exhausted by heat, hungry and tired we decided not to drive away but to try what did not seemed very attractive at first sight: a restaurant located at the entrance of the outer walls of the abbey. Actually, it was a nice surprise: good, polite and quick service by what seemed... More

Located next to the monastery in a beautiful setting, we had a very tasty meal with great service. The local wine was very smooth, the server was super friendly. The pasta was scrumptious.

We had lunch before visiting the monastery. It was a chilly day so we ate inside. It is a family run restaurant and is lovely and unpretentious. We had a delicious lunch with a carafe of house red wine. They have a large terrace which must be wonderful when the weather is warmer. Would highly recommend.

We had dinner and breakfast here whilst staying at the abbey's guest house. Despite La Torre being the only eating place on the site for visitors, it is does not exploit its monopoly. The service is welcoming and relaxed, the choice good and the prices reasonable. We had homemade pici which I followed with a not-so-good sausage and beans. My... More

we missed what was by accounts of fellow travellers a pilgrims, and even our hotelier, a very good restaurant with very good food. We could still smell the truffles as we arrived. (One of the things about cycling trips, sometimes you get there in time, sometimes you just don't.) A thundery day of cycling in rain had turned thankfully into... More

After walking round the abbey we stopped there only to have something to drink but decided to have a small lunch. We had homemade pasta and a salat with pecorino and nuts followed by ice coffee, all was great!
