My friend and I went to Mitre10 to do some shopping, I didnt know they had a cafe, there is no signs and its not visible from the hardware shop, it was my friend who said there was a cafe. Lovely selection of snack and...cabinet food for lunch. Im not sure if the lady at the front counter was new but she didnt seem to know what the scones or muffin flavours were on the counter on my enquiry. Why not have labels? One of the staff members was very helpful when I needed water urgently. I want to go back to take hubby as it is very close from where we live.More
This would be one of few places in New Plymouth that offers #paleo #menu #choices. My #icecoffee was good too. I ate delicious soft shell tacos with prawns and salsa topped up with my coffee on the rocks. And it all turned into a perfect...break between jobs. The place is great on a hot day because there's outdoor seating and a lot to look at.More
Like the blackboard food. Cabinet food nice but would like bit more variety. Keto / sugar free would be awesome. Staff excellent. Friendly and happy faces.
Four of us went for a quick lunch. Coffee and ginger beer was nice. Scones were nuked and too hot. Chutney was also very runny. However it was a nice quick lunch overall.
Came here for lunch with my friend. My lunch was delicious! The chips are yummy! The cabinet food selection and menu is great. The price for coffees etc are the best in Stratford! Lovely staff and customer service. Always a busy place and still great...quality! Very fast service! Lovely view of the Mitre 10 garden also.More
See above. Walked into this cafe today 27th December 2016 intending to have breakfast. However the lady at the counter couldn't even turn her head to greet us despite standing right in front of us. She was busy making coffees, and was slamming cups around...and looking very sour. After being ignored and witnessing this for several minutes we walked out. Is it so hard to turn your head, say good morning, smile and let us know you won't be a minute?More
Walked in. 3 to 4 other people already there. Stood at counter and no staff member so much as lifted their head. No Acknowledgement that we were there at all. The female Barrister appeared angry and continued making coffees. We had time to read the...menu through. Still no acknowledgement, so we left.More
We are local Queenstowners so stopped in at Columbus Coffee whilst shopping at the new Mitre 10 Mega store.Well worthwhile as they have a nice selection of cabinet food and the cafe is nice and spacious and has outdoor seating as well. Staff were very...pleasant and service was excellent, very enjoyable. Many Thanks.More
Friends and I enjoy going to this cafe. The people are very friendly and the service is great. The food is exceptional!!
Visited this cafe at lunchtime. Had a date scone that was very dry. The coffee was only Luke warm and was not very nice. Don't think I would return in a hurry.
Love the food, they change their menu sometimes but would be good to see changes more often. They could do with better chairs, they are quite cold to sit on, not nice when its cold. Service is okay can be slow some of the staff...seem to get flustered quite easy, but overall a nice place to eat.More
Inkpot Cafe at Mitre 10 is right next to the garden section so a very pleasant outlook. And open every day. Paul and Hayley run a great cafe with friendly staff and consistently great coffee. Paul makes the best omelette in town, no question about...it. Great menu and always fresh and interesting cabinet selection. My favourite pick-me-up is a coffee and savoury scone or bakewell tart. Mmmmm. And it's right next to the Patea river with its parks and beautiful walkways if you want to sit by the river with a takeaway. Top cafe.More
First visit today and thought we'd try somewhere new. Firstly the place as well decorated and nice and spacious. Also not too loud for the amount of people seated. Although not heaving still nice to be able to have a conversation without raising your voice....The food selection was good. There's plenty on the board and I like the open kitchen view. The cabinet food wasn't great selection wise but you can't please everyone. I found the kids menu could have included something a little more than 3 options. However must quickly state we ordered a few cakes and the berry muffin was delicious and fresh! The service was friendly enough and proactive however the coffees were terrible. Tasted like old or burnt coffee beans and the child's fluffy one of us ordered was just boiling milk?!.. no fluffy to it. I wouldn't say a bad word about this place to anyone as it may have been a one off but I won't be rushing back.More
You never quite know what to expect when you try eating at a cafe attached to a big mega hardware store. They can be appalling (for example, Mitre 10 at Paraparaumu) or great, like one I've been frequenting at the Mitre 10 in Stratford in...Taranaki. Called the Ink Pot, this is a treasure of a place, attached to the hardware mega store one block away from Stratford's main street. Judged on its busy-ness alone, you know when you walk in that this is somewhere where the locals come for lunch, always a good sign. A bit like following French truck drivers at lunchtime to see where they are going to eat: they always know the best place. The staff are very friendly and the service is fast. The food at first glance looks like your typical cabinet fare, but there's just something a bit extra - maybe the freshness. This is also a place that does a really good toasted sandwich, a no-nonsense choice if you have only 20 minutes for lunch. A warning though - unless you want to spend the rest of the day bouncing off the walls, beware the large cup of coffee. This is bucket-sized, easily the most generous I have ever seen (the standard size is bigger than a Wellington cafe "large"). And there's the other hazard that goes with this sort of establishment - it's easy to do some impulse buying before you get out to the exit. A great combination for DYI freaks like me - food and power tools.More
