We were despairing of finding anything open in Rute when we came across Cafe Venegas. We sat at the bar and had a beer each. We were given delicious fried fish of hake and then anchovies and finally whiting. Then as if we hadn't had enough treats we were given some of Papa's cured cheese which was fantastic. The bill... This has to be one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. The staff were really rude the service was atrocious the food was worse than greasy cafe standard dull and un garnished. Cheap frozen ready made straight from the freezer thrown in the fryer thrown on the plate and thrown on the table. But by far the... More

Went on a Friday in mid June at 10pm. Expected it to start filling with locals as we were told it would do from then on, but we were the only people inside until we left at midnight. Clams were sandy and the sea bass overcooked. Calamari ok. Strangely for a place meant to be good for seafood there were... More

We went to Restaurante Venegas on our last night in Rute. A family run establishment, with great decor and ambience. I had sea bass with prawns and clams which was delicious. A massive portion size!. My husband had solomillo of pork which again was cooked very well. The daughter tried to speak some English to us which was appreciated although... More

Just returned from a wonderful holiday and came across Venegas by accident whilst passing through Rute. 3 generations of us with the only spanish speaker 11 years old. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and assisted greatly by our waitress. The food was outstanding and the only disappointment was finding this the day before returning to England. I would... We always try and visit Venegas whenever we are in Rute around lunch time. Their menu del dias are aways good and they have freshly baked bread with it! For more special occasions they have a seperate beamed dining room which can be booked.

Discovering this restaurant must be a valuable contribution to TripAdvisor's listing. Located in the village of Rute, close to the National Park Subetica in the province of Cordoba, is worth your trip or deviation off the A45 at the sign Rute for an excellent lunch and meeting nice people. The charm and quality are superb and certainly will last in... More
