We came here for a drink after dinner. The Indonesian staff were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the evening very much.

This is a diner based on 6 to 8 small courses. In every course there's some ingredient from Texel. The ambiance is a over 500 year old building with a few table's. so reservation is a must.

I have to admit that I am not a big fan of the Dutch cuisine (especially the deep-fried specialties). But this restaurant had just Dutch specialties, like the Texel pork, lamb, potato salad, and a lot of other small "tapas" in Dutch - and was...truly excellent!! Also a very attentive and friendly service, despite our lack of Dutch explained everything very well in EnglishMore

A very enjoyable evening with 14 different dishes that also vary per table. The standard of the food is not particularly high but the presentation is nice and the price is accordingly. Very attentive staff that will help you along to make sure you have...a worthwhile evening.More

You get about 14 dishes in 4 courses for a reasonable price, about 29 Euro. The quality is all right, but not a high culinairy standard.

Lovely evening with lot's of small dishes delivered by friendly knowledgeable staff . Cap of to the Kitchen crew who delight with every different dish. A relaxed atmosphere in beautiful old setting which will stay fresh in your memory for a very long time. A...must when visiting Texel , to enjoy the outstanding local products , especially the Lamb, and fresh Fish landed a few miles away every day . We will definitely be dining at Het Schoutenhuys again .More

a few years ago the owners launched the concept of " gerechies", i.e small portions in abundance. This is original, but the quality is average. Although the building is historical, the beauty lies on the outside, as the interior lacks in warmth and acoustics are...a bit unpleasant. Not bad overall, friendly staff, but lacks in refinement.More

Dear Chroniceur, thank you for you're constructive review. We serve the 'Gerechies' for over 5 years and every year the quality is better than the year before. It's not that we are not refining, but we intent to make the dishes more pure without 'poespas'...More

The Het Schoutenhuys is located in an old historical building in the center of Den Burg. There are some menus a la carte, but the real attraction are the gerechies (little bits like the spanish Tapas or the Arabian Mezze). These are between 5 and...6 small dishes of local food, salad, some meat, fish and so on, all well made and really tasty, especially when accompanied by the matching wines. We were very glad with our visit in Het Schoutenhuys.More

Dear Ronald, thank you for you're kinds words. I'm happy to read that you're visit with us was so satisfying. Hope to see you again on Texel and in our restaurant.

Great place to eat that we discovered by chance and that we thoroughly recommend. Every single course reflected the chef’s skill, love and passion for the job. Rarely have I seen such attention to detail, the fish and meat were "a point", the seasoning spot...on. The fantastic mayonnaise was of course homemade, and so were the croutons in the salad. The frites were second to none. Great crème brulee. Son had a yummy pancake, You should give the surprise menu a chance. You can eat a la carte, too, but the choice is limited. Friendly service, staff able and willing to explain everything in English and German. We'll be back.More
