Friendly lively hotel with plenty of space so no problem with not being able to book. Staff were lovely and the food was excellent. The steak was delicious, as was the starter which we shared, haggis bites? All reasonably priced.

We arrived in town on a Friday evening, we were staying at this hotel and planning to eat at their restaurant however they were extremely busy and there was a wait for tables. We left to go find something else and … there was nothing....A kabab shop across the street was literally the only other option in town! So we went back and waited for a table at the hotel. The staff were extremely busy but they kept coming to us with updates to ensure we weren’t forgotten. When we finally got a table, service was very slow and we had to wait quite a while for our order. The food was certainly not bad but factoring in the high price plus the long wait, not really great value here. Would have ranked it 3* but we added a star because the staff were just so amazing, very nice, trying their absolute hardest while the place was just crazy busy!More
Good reviews are easy to write. The food, service and welcome were all excellent, and a food allergy was catered for. Perhaps unsurprisingly it can get busy quite quickly, so try to book.
Great service and atmosphere at a very busy time of the day, the lamb stew was very tasty and the chicken breast was moist and well cooked. All the staff were freindly and considering how busy the hotel was we didint wait long at all...for drinks or food unlike some other places we visited in the area.More
Went to the caird on a couple of occasions and it was the same high quality food and staff engagement. The manager was very friendly, helpful and went out of his way ti make our stay enjoyable.
My partner and young family were visiting Landmark on Wednesday 2nd,and I searched for a restaurant we could book for after our day of activity. The Cairn appeared to be the best of the bunch, with glowing reviews. When on the website I noted it...said no need to book. However I emailed them on the 2nd and recieved no reply. My partner called them on the 2nd,only to be told, just turn up, no need to book. We finished at Landmark at just after 4pm,so waited in Carrbridge for 1. 5 hours until they serve food... Walked to the restaurant... Asked for a table, only to be told they are fully booked and awaiting bookings to arrive!!!!!! I will never try this place again. We left very hungry and had to travel an hour and a half home hungry, trying to book something last minute. Shame on you Cairn hotel, I would advise you either don't take any bookings, or do and allow people to plan (take a booking fee or cancellation or DNA fee). Poor customer service.More
2 friends and I were travelling to Carrbridge from Braemar. We were running late and risked missing the lunch service. So I called ahead and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating, making sure we had 3 lovely meals waiting for us on arrival. Customer...service and food outstanding as ever, plus a cracking bar area, great selection of drinks, pool table and juke box. Dogs also welcome.More
We had a wonderful roast beef dinner on a Sunday which was super tasty and offered plenty of well cooked items including proper roasters, rich gravy, carrots perfectly cooked and green beans. For dessert I had the coconut and white chocolate cheese cake and a...great tasting expertly made white coffee. Well worth a visit. Note: The desserts may vary but are always great quality and standard.More
Really good food & service. We turned up on a Sunday evening with no booking, almost all the tables were full except two. Two of us had roasts, one pork & one beef. Both were delicious & massive portions. The other in our group had...a burger & chips, also very tasty. The puddings were really good especially the ice cream sundaes. Given it was full the service was a bit slow but would definitely go back.More
We have been visiting the Cairn Hotel every year for many years and it continues to be really great value for money. Friendly staff and management, excellent food in both dining room and bar, comfortable accomodation and a very relaxed atmosphere. Nothing is too much...trouble. Strongly recommended.More
We visited on Tuesday this week, greeted by 2 lovely team members. Fire on, music on. Menu was lovely, the haggis lasagne & chicken breast burger was really nice. Good choice of beers on tap. Service was great. Will definitely return.
We were three for dinner, I had the slow cooked pork Belly and the Cranachan tart, bot tasty and well prepared. Across the table the soup of the day was declared delicious, and the venison burger was also appreciated. The chicken fillets coated with potato...batter was interesting. The bar is well stocked and the drinks were excellent. So far the best dinner in Aviemore for us.More
So disappointed. Visited for lunch same time last year and the menu was interesting and the food excellent I was really looking forward to my return visit but as soon as I saw the menu I knew things have changed. I certainly didn't see anything...resembling the food in the photograph. Now it seems to be mostly pub grub on offer - burgers and deep fried chicken. Burger doesn't come with fried onions so I paid an extra 75p for what amounted to no more than a very thin slice of onion which is just greedy. The soup starter was minestrone which we suspected came from a catering pack. The mains were good and plentiful but I can get pub grub anywhere so not worth seeking out.More
Delicious meal (hake and seasonal vegetables) but very small portion for £16.95!. Hake and veg cooked in paper with juices. Potato portions roasted.
You can't book, just turn up and wait and by crikey it's worth the wait! Fab food, great service and we couldn't believe the very reasonable prices. First time we had been but will certainly be back, loved all of it 😊
