So we were in Turangi, a slightly random place to say the least. The restaurant looked very local and had an open fireplace so we were attracted to it like moths. Let's just say the food could have been better (or at least cheaper): carbonara was swimming in the cream sauce and quite sloppy, sweet potato soup was edible, but... More

stopped for coffee and cake at lunchtime and enjoyed it so much that we went back for dinner! Lovely staff and delicious home cooked food, with an open fire in the evening. Everyone had a genuine interest in making sure we enjoyed our meal. Very good value for money.

We popped into the cafe for an early dinner. Staff were welcoming as was the Open fire. We enjoyed our mains and the Lemon Meringue Pie.

Great atmosphere especially in winter with the fire going. As a local we call in often for a coffee and muffin. Always fresh. Have had dinner there also and found good food and drinks at a reasonable price.

We had afternoon tea when we arrived. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next day for lunch. Had croissants with egg and bacon - awesome.

Second night 3 couples, first couple last night. Good service and friendly. Venison really tender and tasty. Steak needs an improvement on taste. Good selection of beers

Eggs Benedict advertised with lime and mint. Couldn't taste either. The actual taste was of Blue Cheese. Complained and got a partial refund at least. No take away coffee also an issue. Expensive. Won't be back.

Very busy café when we arrived, coffee and hot chocolate were nice, staff seemed a little bit under pressure. Cute café though. Didn't eat the food.

As locals we drive straight past. But this time we stopped in cause the blackboard special promoted food we were hungry for. Yum seafood chowder. The chowder and smoked fish pasties was Devine. Lovely little cafe, great coffee and food, relaxing atmosphere with an open fire inside. Had eggs benedict and a chai latte, very yummy, the sun was out so we sat outside. Only downside was the outside part was by a car park and there were noisy kids but otherwise fantastic place.

Thank Elizabeth P
