For a curitibano, an hour-long drive to Morretes on a sunny Sunday morning is something that we do every other month. There are three big restaurants by the river and a dozen smaller ones around town, and they all serve "barreado". This time we had to choose Restaurante Madalozo because the other ones, at the time we arrived, were fully... More

We went to this restaurant for the lunch in one rainy day to taste the "barreado". This dish is served at many other restaurants in the neighborhood. I must to say I had taste this dish before, but at Madalozzo Restaurant the "barreado" becomes different. It's delicious. I don't know how they prepare and get one exquisite dish. Aside that... Went to Madalozo with family members.Service was awesome, very attentive personnel! Kudos to them! Now, food for me was just ok. Having had the opportunity to be in many others great restaurants, food was good, nothing really special. Having said that,I can't not talk about their Barreado, because it was my first try to compare to others. Very nice view... More

In the colonnial town of Morretes you can prove a little taste of the typical food of coastal lands of south Brazil. The 'barreado' is an indigenous meat dish several days cooked that should be taken with a very thinn and white manihot flour. Nowadays it has been sided by white rice (ever present in the Brazilian table), fried or... More

We went on the recommendation of a Brazilian friend. The town was overwhelmed by a street fair and the restaurant very busy. The only choice was Barreado with or without seafood. We were immediately served starters of mussels in vinagrette, fried banana and fish croquettes, plus salads. Soon after the barreado arrived - a bowl of stringy meat in stock.... More

Ok so deep fried banana with meat stuffing. The lunch we ate was 50 reals, but was a huge selection of traditional foods, all well prepared and eat all you want. Morrestes is otherwise a sleepy little place with few other attractions.

Very nice restaurant. Usually crowded on weekends. But the food is very good, especially the "barreado" (meat stew cooked in claypot).

Morretes is a sleepy provincial town that seems to be full of restaurants serving the local specialty, barreado. Madalozo is one of the better-looking establishments on the river, and on the plus side has good service, large portions and plenty of seafood options. Not many of the servers spoke English so when we ordered the special barreado (with seafood) and... More

Morretes is on the way from Curitiba to the beach. The "Rua Graciosa" is breathtaking and this trip is better than the final stay at the shore. Unfortunately the Rua Graciosa is blocked for some repairs right now but it should be partially opened again soon. Morrettes is famous for it's dish "Barreado": Barreado is a stew that is slowly... While travelling around southern Brazil, we visited a friend from Curitiba who recommended a trip here to sample the local speciality - and I'm glad we did. It wasn't too busy so we took a seat overlooking the river and ordered the Barreado with starters. We were not halfway through the starters when the Barreado arrived, along with rice and... More
