On MacKenzie Highland A&P Show Day this was one place in town where we could get cash to pay for entry to the show -as the only ATM in town was out of action. Coffee and cake was very good and their pies looked really tasty.

Pies tasty and full to bursting. The crackling on the pork and apple pie was cooked to perfection. Everything stayed warm until our stop for lunch. Prompt polite service. On street parking.

The legendary "Fairlie Bakehouse" deserves every ounce of notoriety that it receives. The large selection of lovely & delicious pastries, (Chocolate Lamingtons, Custard squares, etc...) are only to be overshadowed by the bakehouse's fantastic meat pies. These perfect little hand held meals, come hot from the oven. Throngs of eager customers, come from miles around to enjoy the pies. Many... More

We stopped here for brunch and stood in queue for the pies and coffees. Somehow we were not served when it came to our turn and the guy that was behind us apologized for being served first followed by an apology from the attendant. The pork belly with apple sauce and crackling pie I had was yummy though. Guess it... More

The line was out the door which typically means good food. A few people came up and saw the long queue and left, but I have to say the staff were efficient (but still friendly) and we only waited ten minutes between joining the line and sitting down with our food. The steak pie was tasty. Chicken pie was good... More

Today we visited the Fairlie Bakehouse, to be honest, when we visited them for lunch last time (pre their extension) we weren't that impressed, (the pies we had, although full of meat, didn't have enough gravy, so we're a little too dry) but decided to give them another try and so happy we did, today we had pork belly &... We stopped because our guidebook said it would be a great way to refuel while traveling from Queenstown east. We were quite surprised to see it so crowded we could hardly get in the door ! The reason was a recent festival that day and it was a holiday- Easter Monday! The famous treat there is the pie as in... More

Fantastic pies which are sought after in Auckland but you have to go to the South Island to get them. Highly recommend the pork belly pies. The owner went out of his way to ensure the product was delivered on time. Taste testing of the curried goat and yoghurt at work on Tuesday.
