We love this cafe. Have been a few times and are never disappointed. Staff are friendly and the cafe itself is a treasure trove of old memorabilia. Games, magazines, toys and even hats to wear if you sit outside in the sunshine - everything to make your (and your children's) time more enjoyable. Food is excellent, especially the home made... After a good 4 hour walk on the foothills of Mt Hutt, the tarts and salads here were very welcome with several cups of tea out of a pot. The staff and owner are friendly and thoughtful, and the toilets clean. The atmosphere is old fashioned cluttered bric a brac, but the food is prepared with some flair in a... More

Stopped here on way back to Christchurch. Food really good and great presentation. However toilets absolutely filthy. No paper toilets just an old crusty towel to dry your hands. Toilet bowl was horrible. Such a shame cause loved the good.

Just stopped by for coffee but stayed for lunch with such a great selection of food. Selection today ranged from home made soups (mushroom or tomato), to vege burritos, lamb fillo wraps, chicken and leek pie, all sorts of salads and baking such as croissants, brownies, muffins ...great coffee, newspaper and a range of 'antique' household items for sale.

My business partner and I occasionally go to Methven for lunch and religiously choose Primo Secundo ... Decor The cafe has an eclectic look with a wide range of retro artefacts throughout. The tables and chairs are a variety of styles but generally comfortable, and the environment is a relaxed easy going one. Service Maria and her team of young... More

Good coffee and baked goods. Quirky. Popular with locals and travellers. Cafe plus second hand wares combined business.

From a bewildering selection of fantastic looking good and a big menu I selected the eggs benedict. Simply terrific. Great friendly front of house and quaint, fascinating surroundings. I'll be back.
