Had a nice steak dinner in this pleasant restaurant on one of Juayua's main streets. I found the small (4 oz) version to be more than enough food, as it came with a plate of potatoes fried with cheese, rice, and bread. A number of beef dishes with various sauces on the menu, as well as ribs with barbecue sauce.... More

Do not go here, its overpriced and terrible food. We were worried about the quality of the food and the potential health issues with an under-cooked steak in a central american country

Despite initially being a bit reluctant to try a restaurant where the average meal was a whopping $7 (food in this town is so cheap!), we were told R and R was quality and we were not disappointed. We are trying to cut out red meat so decided to share the vegetable bowl and it was equally scrumptious and filling.... More

Had a truly great meal here. The steak with shrimp is superb. Steak cooked perfectly. Really liked the potato started too, flavours just right. If your in town you have to visit this place.

I would first like to add my condolences on the passing away of one of El Salvador´s very best chefs. I knew him well from many great eating experiences at his quaint establishment. The restaurant continues with the same wonderful recipes, the same variety of tender, marinated steaks - the same gourmet experience. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately I am not sure if it is open. Carlos the owner and chef just passed away...so young. He has trained others and done an excellent job so hopefully they will open back up.

There are lots of reasons why R&R is the best restaurant in Juayua - tastefully decorated, it provides a lovely ambience for your amazing meal. I had the vegetarian lasagne which wasn't the exact traditional lasagne but every mouthful was divine. The kitchen also sent out a complimentary salad and a little Salvadorean chocolate at the end. Lots of meat... More

Probably the best food in whole Central America!!! No matter what you choose everything tastes just great! The owner Carlos is really friendly and he speaks very good english, too. Highly recommend taking the potatoes in cheese-sauce with garlic bread as a side dish and try the homemade peanut butter horchata for drinking ;)

The R & R and its owner Carlos is a small family run restaurant which I believe is open 7 day a week. I have been several times both with family and larger tour groups. The sauces are incredible and I find the prices of all the dishes on the simple menu very reasonable.

We visited the restaurant just by chance. They specialize in steaks which we rarely eat. This was a very special treat. The potatoes were a delightful version of scalloped bought to a higher level. The salad pot was a new definition of salad. We chose two different sauces, one coffee and the other was the shrimp and steak. Couldn't determine... More

Chef Carlos Careres creates unique entrees combining talents learned while studying in Canada with his El Salvadoran background. We ate at his restaurant, as recommended in Frommer's guide, and it was the best meal we had bar none in El Salvador. The steaks were perfection as was the chicken. He is very creative and incorporates many of the local flavours - one of the steaks was prepared with a coffee rub (Juayua being a coffee growing town). Carlos speaks excellent English and is incredibly hospitable. Our whole meal was delicious and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Juayua. Also of note, it was one of the least expensive restaurants we visited while in El Salvador!
