I returned to Penang in November/December 2016 to find Tan Sam Guan is better than ever. I ate there most days of my stay and it continues to provide excellent food at great value. Liang, Loon and the team are just fantastic, very welcoming and always looking to do the best by their customers. I highly recommend the spicy bee... More

This "restaurant" is actually like a food stall with stone tables and stone stools. Outside are wooden chairs and seats. walking past you would probably never give this place a second glance. Wed have been going here for over 30 years and the food is OUTSTANDING- both in taste and price. Run by husband and wife team, this "stall" is... More

As a lunch time restaurant, I hadn't happened upon Tan Sam Guan Seafood previously. In Penang this time with my brother, I joined him for lunch on my last day - I wish I'd done it earlier! Delicious, simply delicious. Spicy Bee Hoon, smoky with the perfect balance of egg, chicken and greens - thanks bro for letting me finish... More

On a very quick return trip, I only managed to get to Tan Sam Guan twice, but excellent again both times. Really reasonable prices, very tasty dishes, this is still my favourite quick lunch place in Batu Ferringhi.

Open for lunch everyday except Tuesday's this restaurant has some of the best food on the island. They have an extensive menu that is sure to please everyone. Always greeted by happy welcoming faces. Amazing to watch the chefs work their woks. Located amongst the stalls in the lane running alongside the golden sands resort. Once you eat there you... More

We returned again in March 2016 and Liang and Loon are still the same and the food is still excellent. If you want to try the best food while in Penang visit this place, it’s the best. Also the cold beer man is next door the coldest beer in Penang. Why we tell everyone I dont know, because its getting... More

I'm so glad that I saw the review on TA as we went there for lunch today and found the food to be superb. I loved my lemon chicken and the seafood Tom Yam soup was very good. This is real, honest, unpretentious local fare which I really appreciated for a lunch right next to my hotel. Amazingly good value.

This is my number one pick for where to eat lunch in Batu Ferringhi. We eat lunch here several times a week whenever we are staying in the area. The lemon chicken is to die for if you love really zingy flavours and the sizzling fish is my number two choice. Be warned you could be overwhelmed by the size... More

Located in the alley between Golden Sands and Lone Pine is this stall serving great Malaysian cuisine. Only open for lunch their food is fresh, tasty and cheap. Friendly and efficient service. Good for a quick and fuss free meal.
