Forget the tourist traps and take it from an (ex)local: go eat at le Palangre. OK, the service is quite long. Sometimes very long when the place is full, but it is worth the wait. Lovely and fun staff, great atmosphere and the food... Wow. Fresh seafood, lovingly prepared, creative cuisine and absolutely delicious.

We had a great lunch, fresh fish and moules marinieres were our choices, accompanied with a nice bottle of rose. Staff are friendly, the quayside location great, will go again, particularly since the bill was very reasonable....

We had a very nice lunch during the week and the restaurant was full. The service is very friendly and you really feel welcome. Fish is fresh, catch of the day, the fish soup superb and offers that typical "home made" taste. Also very nice is that they don't close the kitchen early. So late arrivals, like at 14.15 hrs... There are many restaurants in Grau du Roi, and I suppose many will serve wonderfully fresh fish, but I like Le Palangre because the service is so friendly and efficient, and the dishes are imaginative . The set menus at 26 and 36 euros are value for money, and the setting alongside the harbour is difficult to better. I have... More

We found this restaurant on the bank of the canal next to the port. It was bang on. Service was friendly and quick without being pushy. We chose le formule du jour which was a duo of fish and a desert. 15 euros per head. The fish wtwofer shyly caught and well cooked. It consisted of tuna and gurnard with... More

We reserved a day before our dining experience for a typical french bouillabaisse..... Service: top knotch, five star quality. Most customers seemed to enjoy their great looking seafood meals. To say we would go back to eat there is saying alot about this restaurant considering we did not enjoy our 52 euro a plate royal bouillabaisse. Lots of fish (five... More

Situated on the sunny side of the canal at lunch time in winter, which gives it an advantage it does not have in the high season. Because of its pricing, more of a "special outing" than a normal lunch. There is a menu around 20€, but on the day we opted for the carte, pushing the boat out for fresh... More

Very nice fish dishes, splendid view on the nice fishing harbour, what do you want more? We have visited this restaurant several times in more than 15 years and it was never disappointing.

Based on some of the TripAdvisor reviews and wanting something by the canal side we headed here. We had the a la carte choices of giant prawns (biggest I have ever seen), grilled sole and fish platter. The latter had a fantastic choice and was great value.Excellent and friendly service.
