We visited Cong over two days and had both a late lunch and breakfast at The Hungry Monk. It's in a wonderful location, charming interior, very friendly and accommodating staff, and spectacular baked goods. It's the kind of place that just makes you happy, both from good food and good conversation. Highly recommended!

My wife and I stopped here for a bit of lunch while walking around the beautiful village of Cong. We stayed indoor and were pleasantly surprised. It's fabulous on the inside, great food and coffee. The staff are very friendly and it is such a popular place to eat that people were being turned away just after we ordered.

We went to The Hungry Monk on a whim after visiting the Ashford Estate. Beautifully little cafe: as soon as we walked in, the owner bought a box of toys for our little 20-month-old. That prompt, brilliant service continued throughout our meal.I ordered the flat white (well-made coffee) and a pork and apple burger, with my other half getting the... More

Had the baked ham and mustard sandwich with a coffee. I cannot complain about the food or the staff.

Stopped for lunch after the Quiet Man tour. The food was simple but excellently prepared and fresh. It's obvious they put a lot of care into it. We had pastrami and cheddar sandwiches with pickled onions, and roasted potato wedges and a salad on the side. Orange chocolate sponge cake for dessert. This was one of the best sandwiches I've... We enjoyed lunch here while we were staying at Ashford Castle. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The menu is ever changing based on what's fresh. The goat cheese on my salad was among the best I've had. We will definitely eat here again when in Cong.

The delightful aroma of coffee wafting up the street first attracted us to investigate. Our party of four was made to feel most welcome as we entered this small roadside café. All the baking is produced by the owner and the fruit scones we purchased were delightful and a generous size. We sat outside at two small pavement tables and... More

We stayed at Ashford Castle and took a stroll to the village to have a lite meal. One of the hotel staff recommended the Hungry Monk, so we decided to give it a try. Aisling and Johnathan were wonderful hosts/owners and welcomed everyone who walked in. Answered questions and explained the daily menu board. Prices were reasonable and the meal... More
