We loved our lunch at Bistro La Tupina. The chef was right there with the open fire, the tupina (or big black pot) on the fire, serving tapas, preparing courses, telling us what we were eating, where it came from, his life story. The food was fabulous. Really fabulous. And the experience was unforgettable. It's a bit like being in... More

La Tupina is a hidden gem. As we drove in, we weren't sure of the building surrounded by the vineyard, but then we were greeted by the sweetest woman named Mikalia. We started with tapas of avocado with grapefruit; lentils; black pork; chizo; and chicken. Followed by sweet potatoes and beef with a slight sweetness from sugar. It was wonderful!... More

From the food, presentation, wine, location, scenery, it was the perfect lunch! I can't remember the chef's name but she is amazing and deserves some praise. Not only did everything taste sooo good but the presentation of it all was creative and unique. We were traveling as a group of 6, and 3 of us are vegetarian. They were very... More

A group of 21 of us bicycling on a Zephyr Adventures tour had the opportunity to have Chef Lucas teach us how to make empanadas at his beautiful restaurant. He prepared a terrific meal for the group which was served in his outdoor dining area overlooking the vineyards. The entire time spent with him and his staff was perfect in... More

Nice outdoor location but had to have lunch inside because of the wind. Very friendly staff but very slow service. Food was okay but didn't pair well with the wines served. If you are looking for a good lunch/winery experience, there are numerous other places that have better food and service.

TripAdvisor certainly came up trumps in helping us discover Bistro La Tupina, a tiny restaurant attached to Bodega Altus in Tupungato, near to the Chilean border. We'd gone for the tour and wine tasting in Catena Zapata and Bistro La Tupina seemed near enough to give it a try. We reserved a table but there was absolutely no need as... More

Fabulous lunch with the head chef Lucas. It was a tasting menu so we tried all kinds of food that normally we would not be brave enough to order as a meal. The lunch started with a lovely glass of chardonnay. We stood by the open fire as Lucas prepared each item on the tasting menu in front of us,... More

This review is long overdue, but want to add our praise for La Tupina at Altus Winery. It was a definate highlight of our Mendoza trip. The beet mousse and pumpkin mousse was uniquely served in large tablespoons followed by absolutely delicious empanadas and a yummy bife de chorizo. All served with just the right wines. The rosado was the... More

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic form the food, to the service , to the atomsphere. 5 stars plus all the way. My husband and I went to Argentina last year (Jan '09) and we took a private car to a few bodegas. The food at this restaurant blew away any restaurant that we travelled to throughout our entire stay in... More

As an earlier reviewer described this restaurant - you will spent 2 hours enjoying great food and very beautiful environment. First class in every way. It is one on the most expensive restaurants is the area but still an excellent value. We upgraded to the better wines which were excellent. We were there in early April, sat outside, wonderful weather.... More
