We have been in Guadeloupe for four nights and this is by far the best meal we have had so far. I ordered the tuna steak and my husband the bream, both of which came with rice, salad and a tomato and aubergine side dish. The presentation was lovely and both dishes tasted fantastic. We followed this with a cafe... More

During our stay in Deshaies we have dined in five different restaurants. We found "La Kaz du Douanier" to be the best one. It is a pity we dined there on our last day. We have ordered tuna and bream, both delicious. Our children loved their fish child menu with chips (not french fries) We ate also "iles flottants" and... More

My wife and I wandered into La Kaz one evening and had the best food and the best time. La Kaz Du Douanier refers to the customs officer, as this was formerly the customs house (shack?). They had some painted cut-outs of a customs man around the place, plus primitive jungle style oil paintings (some 19th C painter I can't... More

We got into Deshaies late one evening and this was about the only place still open. We got fish of the day for us, and burgers and rice for the kids. 100% creole food experience. All fresh, high quality ingredients. Wonderful to eat at a table with sand beneath your toes. Try the local drinks menu.

This was the most fun restaurant we experienced in this town. Excellent food, great priced wine, and service in french with a smile. The waiter had fun with us not speaking french, which made it enjoyable. We just pointed to the menue, and we're pleasantly supprised either the meals ewhen they came out.

I think this is the first English review! I was expecting simple food like crepes and boukits but this is much more. There are about 6 dishes prepared each day out of a rotating list of about 300 items! We had curry chicken and ginger chicken and both were very good. Also had some other ones that looked great -... We arrived late into Deshaies after driving from the airport. La Kaz was one of the few places still willing to serve us at 9:30 pm. The owner was very friendly. We sat with a bunch of locals drinking beer and rum until closing. The whole experience helped make us feel at home.

This is La Kaz from "Death in Paradise". Loved the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and started off a rendition of "Happy Birthday" with the rest of the clientele. Don't be put off if it looks deserted when passing during the day, it's deceptive and the place will be open of the evening.

We went there and was lucky enough to get a table. The waiter took one look at our kids and said that he would get the chef to make nuggets. Best steak I had all trip. Waiter good with kids and quite funny

We ate here twice during our vacation in Guadeloupe. The food was very good and everybody found something they liked. We had the same waiter both nights and he was very friendly. The seafood dishes we had were all top notch. Highly recommended.
