At the recommendationof our gasthaus we chose the Hotel Traub restaurant for dinner . Great food, good prices and a helpful english speaking waiter added another wonderful experience.
This is a very popular place especially at lunch when they seem to attract large groups that they easily handle by sliding doors that open and close off areas. The menu is varied with prices for all budgets. The servise is prompt and courteous. We ate here 4 times in the space of 3 days and were never disappointed.
Very good service & food. Highly recommended for everyone visiting Appenzell. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and the quality of the cuisine was good value for money.

This restaurant hotel is a typically, cosy place in the wonderful Appenzell area. The house is still managed by the owners. They guarantee quality in food and a nice, friendly service. Try the macaroni cheese with sausage! Moreover, the Traube has small but convenient rooms. It's worth to stay here for one or more nights.
This restaurant is on the second floor of the hotel, so not obvious to tourists. We felt the food was quite good and reasonable for Switzerland. It seemed to have more local diners than tourists which is a good indication of the quality and value. We liked it so much we went two nights in a row.
