The Cajun House Mid-June 2021, this was our first attempt at a dine-in experience since the beginning of the pandemic, so we decided on trying something different than I would normally cook at home (I enjoy cooking as a retirement hobby and love to experiment,...only limited by the ingredients that I have on hand). We decided to try the Cajun House in St. Albert. The parking lot was a bit crowded on the evening that we arrived since part of it was under re-construction, however we fortunately found an open spot. On arrival, we were cordially greeted by a Hostess and were promptly seated in a surprisingly full dining room, though it was apparent that measures had been taken to properly space the tables according to COVID-19 protocols. After perusing the menu, my wife and I decided on a few items that looked interesting, she choosing to start with the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo and with the Filet Mignon Ya Ya as her main course. I chose the Bouillabaisse and the Seafood Jambalaya. Nancy’s Chicken and Sausage Gumbo was very good, thick with blended tomatoes and vegetables and bits of chicken and sausage. My Bouillabaisse was a rich and tasty broth filled with a good amount of various seafoods including mussels, chunks of what I believe were snapper, and topped with a large crab claw. The Filet came out nicely prepared, done medium as requested with a mix of tender-crisp vegetables and roasted potatoes. My wife reported that she enjoyed her steaks, though she is not used to eating meat with a sauce quite a sweet as was the port demi-glace (she generally is not a fan of sweeter/savoury meat sauces in general) however I noticed that she finished all of the sauce on her plate. My Jambalaya was excellent, with the right amount of spice, generous amounts of seafoods, and a good amount of savoury rice. Well done! Needless to say, we were both quite suffonsified, and had no room for dessert. The Cajun House provided a satisfying way to start (cautiously) eating out again.More

Our entrees (snapper, catfish) were excellent: perfectly cooked and seasoned, beautiful sauces, really good vegetables. The 'petite' portion was just the right amount of food - the regular size meal must be huge! The bread pudding was disappointing: the base was bland, and the rum...sauce was very thin and runny. Service was prompt, efficient, and very pleasant.More

My friend and I wanted to try the Cajun House. We got there and there was us and one other couple in the establishment. The service was good but we waited for at least 45 mins, before getting our steaks. My friend's steak was okay,...mine was barely edible. I enjoyed the salad but when I order a steak at a restaurant I expect it to be delicious. After we waited 45 mins, the waitress came out and told us it would be just a few more minutes. I was looking forward to the meal, it was quite a disappointment. I will not be returning.More

The restaurant is very nice the food was delicious I really like that with most of the entrees you could pick the petite or regular portion. I picked the petite portion and it was more than enough. The service was great and very friendly and...accomodating.More

Went out to dinner with my parents, all of us had a horrible meal. My mother's sauce had so much vinegar in the sauce and she couldn't finish it, my Dad said his meal tasted awful, I'd ordered a vegetarian dish, the vegetables were overcooked,...bland and it tasted like something they pulled out of box that had been sitting in the freezer for months. We're all good cooks, when we go out for dinner we expect to eat a meal that at least tastes good, this was awful.More
