This is not a bad place; it's basic pub grub that pretends it's a bit more - but it's not. Really not. That said, none of the meal was a disaster; we ate, paid and left after an entirely average and forgettable experience which included half of what we wanted being sold out (including gluten free bread which made the... Just been to The Red Lion at Drayton. Decided to try the carvery, as it had been a while since eating in this establishment. On arrival, a smiling waitress welcolmed us and gave a selection of tables, to choose from. When we chose a table at the rear of the restaurant, waitress seemed a little preoccupied and left us, until... More

Although the food was ok and reasonable. The service and staff were terrible , The land lady was very rude and even when taking your money couldn't manage a smile . Will not be returning.

Went for a family meal. We have been for carvery before and been pleased with the standard on a Saturday. We had food off the main menu. Chicken and rice, tasted microwaved, dry hard taste to each grain. Chicken was dry and nothing special. My salmon was very dry no seasoning what so ever, salmon should be juicy and flavoursome... Birthday Sunday carvery with family ,excellent food , can see why some might be put off by the chap that organises your table .He is a bit like marmite to say the least or vegimite going by the twang in his voice . I like marmite so was not affected by his blunt manner,I found him quite entertaining . This... More

I on the spur of the moment went for a snack lunch with a pint today; and so wish I hadn’t. On the face of it, The Red Lion should be fantastic. I was greeted by an empty bar, no staff and had to wait a good 7-10 minutes before i was served! The carver opens at 12pm and the... More

Rude staff and management however, the carvery is excellent. Management chose to ignore you and the waiting staff avoid tables unless to clean them for the next visitors. Having arrived and pointedly been ignored by the the owner decided to wait for a table. Finally got a table then had to queue for the carvery. Waited for about 10 mins... More
