We visited here for an evening meal and were not disappointed! Pre booked a table as known to get busy. Warmly welcomed and taken to our table. A varied menu to suit all. Breads and dipping oils brought to the table while starter was being...prepared. Scallops cooked perfectly and almost melted in your mouth with a generous portion of risotto for starter. Fish for main, again beautifully cooked in a flavoursome lemon sauce. Mixed veg accompanied. My husbands black pudding mash and belly pork didn't disappoint! For dessert we managed to squeeze in a piece of gooey chocolate cake with ice cream that was recommended by Molly who was friendly, polite and attentive. Would definately recommend and will be returning.More

Booked in here for Sunday lunch on a recommendation. Lovely location surrounded by countryside. We were surprised it was not busy. Apparently not unusual for a Sunday, but very busy through the week in the evenings. Friendly welcome and covid aware. I had a starter...of mushrooms in a creamy sauce and a puff pastry case. Have had plenty of these where the sauce is overpowering and too creamy. This was just right. We had lamb and beef between us. Nice thick slices of beef/lamb with plenty of gravy, a large Yorkshire pudding and roasts and a good selection of vegetables. Just what you'd want from a proper Sunday lunch. My wife assures me that the Merlot was very nice. My wife had an Eton Mess for dessert. Couldn't fault anything and we thought good value for money. We will be back one evening to sample a busier atmosphere.More

Both of us had the pie dishes which were fantastic. The Malteser Cheesecake wasn't bad either! Pub was well organised re: COVID-19 and the staff were really lovely.

Popped in here for a family lunch after a long drive on the motorway. The food was absolutely fantastic, and the staff were brilliant. I genuinely can’t recommend this place enough. The portions are large and the price is great for the quality of food...you get. If I’m ever even slightly near Yorkshire, I’ll make it a point to stop in.More

Went with friends, for evening meal. On arrival we were shown straight to our table, drinks orders taken.,which soon arrived along with some nice small bread rolls and butter. We all chose the chicken and leek pie, which had a flakey top, served with home...made chips, and separate dish of vegetables. Loads of chicken in the pie, it really was very good. Lovely village pub and great food, friendly service. Good social distancing measures in place.More

Ordered a takeaway meal from here a couple of days before visiting and was highly impressed. Very friendly service when collecting it and the portions were huge, fresh, and very reasonably priced. The most important point though was the quality and we both loved our...meals. I chose the chicken and leek pie (huge pieces of chicken), with chips (a very large tray of them) and peas. Had my lovely lemon cheesecake later that evening, as was too full at the time following my main. We will be definitely be returning in due course. Very highly recommended.More

Dropped in for Sunday lunch with my partner. The lady behind the bar couldn't be more accommodating. Taking us to our table and seating us the starter was very swift. Haddock done to perfection and the black pudding moist and extremely delicious. My partner had...the pork and I had the rib of beef. Be prepared for a lot of meat, and done to a T. The crackling was excellent, I know this as my partner ate it all and didn't offer me any.. Only slight criticism is the wait for the vegetables, but it is a slight complaint and the speed of service is extraordinarily quick. Wonderful staff, just keep the waiter on water as his dentist is on his back. We shared a pudding, the Malteser cheesecake. Wow Just Wow Price wise very sensible, in fact worth a fiver more than we paid. Cant wait to return in the near future.More
